What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;

  • Proven leadership with 8+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or digital engagement, including at least 3 years of supervisory, coaching, or mentoring responsibility.
  • Expertise in integrated marketing and engagement campaigns, with a track record of collaborating effectively with vendors, partners, and internal peers to achieve shared success.
  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Strong digital acumen, including experience overseeing websites, social media, and digital platforms to drive engagement and revenue.
  • Strategic storytelling ability, with demonstrated skills in creative development and brand expression.
  • Analytical and results-driven mindset, with the ability to use data and insights to inform decisions, measure impact, and optimize performance.
  • Collaborative influence skills, able to build trust, foster partnerships, and align diverse perspectives toward common goals.
  • Adaptability and growth mindset, with the ability to balance strategic priorities and manage multiple initiatives in a dynamic environment.
  • Interest or experience in health, fitness, recreation, or community development is an asset.
  • Understanding of not-for-profit and charitable organizations is valuable.
  • Ability to provide a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and three professional references.

Reporting to the Vice President, Community Engagement, this leader will be a dynamic marketer responsible for amplifying our brand, driving revenue-producing campaigns, and delivering exceptional digital experiences so that YMCA Calgary continues to deepen its connections, increase its impact, and create welcoming, inspiring experiences that embody our promise: to see potential, build belonging, and strengthen community.
Duties and Responsabilities include:

Lead Marketing Strategy & Brand Stewardship

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies that strengthen YMCA Calgary’s brand, grow awareness, and drive membership, program, and philanthropic engagement.

Drive Revenue-Generating Campaigns

  • Oversee multi-channel campaigns that support membership sales, program participation, and fundraising, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and impact goals.

  • Champion Digital Engagement

Lead the evolution of YMCA Calgary’s digital platforms, including website, social media, and app, to deliver user-friendly, accessible, and inspiring experiences that connect people to our mission.

Lead & Collaborate

  • Manage, mentor, and inspire a talented team while working cross-functionally with leaders across the association to align marketing and digital engagement with broader strategic goals.

Guide Creative & Content Development

  • Ensure all storytelling, design, and messaging reflect YMCA Calgary’s voice, values, and promise, while maintaining brand consistency across channels.

Measure & Optimize Impact

  • Use data and insights to track performance, evaluate ROI, and continually refine strategies for greater reach, engagement, and connection to business outcomes.

Collaborate on Communications & Crisis Response

  • Partner across the broader team to align messaging and communications, while serving as a key support for emergency and crisis communications as needed.
