What will you be doing!

Designing the overall architecture and providing ongoing support for CNL’s on-premise server infrastructure and cloud-based computing infrastructure, email and messaging tools, deploying and providing operational support for application and database servers, and implementing backup and recovery technologies and procedures, while supporting server virtualization technologies and processes. Gathering and documenting user requirements on single business processes and translating those needs into functional designs as part of a project team. Acting as a Technical Lead on medium-complexity projects (e.g., researching and implementing new infrastructure technologies). Creatively defining and designing IT infrastructure solutions to address technical and business needs. Developing a high degree of expertise with one or more critical IT infrastructure components. Expanding on existing solution templates or developing new paradigms and innovative solutions. Designing and/or specifying generalized solutions, ranging from architectural redesigns of existing systems to the adoption of new technologies (e.g., virtualization). Developing and acting on technology implementation plans aligned to defined strategies. Analyzing and designing technical computing processes and systems, including an understanding of software build processes and compiler variations. Specifying next-generation server, storage, cloud, and/or technical computing hardware and software components, including Operating Systems, monitoring, and management tools. Provisions server hardware selection and testing. Implementing and integrating commercial software purchases to support the server, storage, and technical computing infrastructure. Defining specifications of server, storage, and technical computing hardware and associated software. Monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving complex issues across on-premises server and cloud-based computing infrastructure, backup, network, and computer systems. Conducting capacity assessments of existing on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure to ensure that it can support future growth. Providing technical support for cloud-based applications and operating systems used in the Data Center. Creating and providing detailed, accurate documentation of architecture and infrastructure layout and functionality. Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What We Are Looking For

Education Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position or equivalent formal education. Or; Secondary School Honour Graduation or additional education and training. Experience Possesses more than fifteen (15) years of relevant, progressive experience as an IT Infrastructure Analyst or similar role, gaining design expertise in IT Infrastructure technologies. Experience with PKI Certificate Management, TCP/IP, SMTP, SFTP, Active Directory, IIS, ASP, HTML, Windows, PowerShell, other Unix-based scripting languages, and DNS services. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated expert-level skills in system administration, technology-specific toolsets, and troubleshooting. Demonstrated reason and problem-solving skills to provide technical and troubleshooting services to end users in operation/use of computer hardware and software. Advanced analytical, interpretive, reasoning, and problem-solving skills to assess, identify, and coordinate/manage problems and incidents; to recommend solutions to meet user needs; to provide insight into the impact of problems or planned changes; to conduct research, evaluate, and recommend solutions to ensure compatibility with the current system and future changes. Demonstrated experience in developing standards and protocols. Demonstrated strong assessment, analytical, and critical-thinking skills to assess organizational information systems needs, develop proposals for IT Infrastructure technologies, systems, and solutions, establish standards and guidelines, and make recommendations. Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate project-related costs, effort, and schedule. Demonstrated excellent leadership, teamwork and communication skills, both oral and written, effectively presented and communicated ideas, documented solutions and developed strategies and plans. Ability to provide timely and courteous responses to support requests, including problem analysis, initial resolution and/or escalation. Knowledge of Architecture-specific certifications is desirable, such as Microsoft MCSE, Red Hat RHCE, and SNIA SNCP. Knowledge of Project management tools including planning software (e.g. MS Project, SharePoint). Familiarity with cloud-based Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), including Microsoft M365, Amazon, and Oracle. Information Technology Standards and Guidelines, best practices, standards and controls, and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Principles and process standards to ensure that output meets expectations and is consistent with IT plans and goals. Excellent planning, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a strong team. Manage enterprise applications responsible for server builds, patch management, virtual machine management, and virus scanning. Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies. Security Clearance Eligibility Required Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.” Working Conditions

Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week. This position is part of the USW1568 Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the USW1568 Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
