Settlement Worker – Families in Settlement Together Program
(One Month - Contract. Full-Time Hours, In-Person)
CCS is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or immigration status.
We are searching for a Settlement Worker, full-time, in-person position to providing settlement information and referral services to newcomer families with young children and families of children with special needs to aid in their settlement and integration.

What you will be doing:
- Provide client-centered settlement information and referral services including assessment, follow-up services, information and orientation services for newcomer families, including those with young children and families of children with special needs
- Use initial assessment of newcomers to develop personalized settlement plans
- Facilitate appropriate internal and external referrals and access to services in the community
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with partner agencies
- Build partnerships with other service providers to connect clients with appropriate resources
- Organize, plan, facilitate group sessions as required by contract, and are in line with client needs
- Develop and implement community outreach plans to promote CCS programs and services
- Participate in regular program, team and agency wide meetings, and trainings
- Develop and implement initiatives and/or focus activities to address newcomer needs
- Maintain and update all client information in customized database
- Prepare and submit statistical and progress reports to manager as required
What are we looking for?
- Social Service Work diploma or Social Work degree from recognized institution or equivalent training in community work sectors
- Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in the settlement and/or community work sectors, including serving families with young children and families of children with special needs
- Ability to engage clients via online communication tools such as Zoom, Teams, and Google classroom, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram etc.
- Ability to build and maintain strong, ongoing partnerships community agencies
- Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills with participants, other agencies and the public.
- Excellent oral and written skills in English and a second language is an asset
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
- A valid Social Insurance Number and legally entitled to work in Canada under relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Successful completion of a background check and/or vulnerable sector check upon hire
Location: Scarborough, ON
Compensation: $29.67/hr to $33.02/hr based on experience
Hours of work: 35 hours per week, including Saturdays, occasional evening and overtime will be required

From its humble beginnings in a downtown Toronto church in 1954, CCS has grown into one of the largest settlement organizations in Canada. More than 200 employees and 100's of volunteers deliver culturally-sensitive and linguistically appropriate programs and services in more than thirty languages.
We serve all newcomers -- regardless of race, religion, age, country of origin, sexual orientation, immigration status, or political affiliation -- from eight locations across Scarborough, Mississauga and Brampton, and in collaboration with over 40 community partners.
