Type: Replacement

Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Applications, the Senior EMR Systems Analyst (Senior Analyst) is the primary point contact for clinical applications analysts and project managers for technical support with the hospital clinical information systems (Epic and/or Telus PSS). The Senior Analyst will have an in-depth knowledge of the assigned clinical application and is responsible for developing specifications for how the application should be configured to support optimal organizational workflows and efficiency and provides ongoing application support following implementation. The Senior Analyst also provides technical requirements and workflow design consultative expertise to users issues throughout the hospital; senior analyst will apply similar expertise to various projects within the virtual care and clinical applications portfolio. This role is also the point of escalation for resolution of all clinical applications related issues that arise from analysts. Working in collaboration with, and direction from, the Team Leads, the Senior Analysts will be a source of technical team leadership for the clinical applications team.

Summary Of Duties, But Not Limited To

  • Provides application expertise to support effective problem management and resolution to end users
  • Supports technical builds and enhancements within the application system as appropriate and in alignment with training, expertise and organizational priorities.
  • Develops and documents internal procedures related to assigned application.
  • Works with system vendors in all production change promotions
  • Supports clinical groups and subject matter experts to help with the planning, design, and optimal development of workflow changes/solutions.
  • Performs system maintenance as required including after-hours support.
  • Engages and builds relationships, including participation in working groups and committees, with stakeholders and users from across the organization to identify optimization and enhancement opportunities.
  • Provides detailed workflow analysis, including but not limited to providing a business case, detailed targets, and identified solutions
  • Reviews and tests each new application and upgrade releases to coordinate enhancements as required.
  • Provides after hours on-call support as scheduled
  • Acts as the point of contact for escalated service desk tickets, incidents, and concerns
  • Provides training and user support for troubleshooting of critical Production problems, as well as post-implementation enhancements and resolutions.
  • Regularly meet with Technical Support from Clinical Information Systems (I.e., Epic, Telus PSS) to work through ongoing tickets / inquiries about system configuration.
  • Monitors the application system by providing regular scrutiny of reports from alert systems, notes problems and identifies performance trends
  • Provides detailed reports to the team lead, development team and other resources within IT to ensure the needs of the client are met.
  • Advises Team Lead and Project Managers on hardware and software requirements as well as build resources required for projects
  • As the subject matter expert, provides detailed input to project plans, project charters, project status reports, and outline any risks throughout the project; participates in project implementation
  • Collaborates with team members, plans related activities, and presents to stakeholder groups as required.
  • Works closely with stakeholders (i.e., vendor partners, department managers, directors, project leads, customers/end users) to ensure project plans reflect the department needs, including but not limited to outlining detailed activities, resources, constraints and training.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an undergraduate Degree in Health Informatics or related field required
  • Minimum 3-5 years previous experience a similar related role
  • Experience working with the Epic EMR. Telus PSS an Asset
  • Familiar with Personal Health Information Privacy & Security related acts & guidelines
  • Experience with hospital systems, workflows and processes
  • Basic computer abilities with the understanding of terminology and functionality and advanced MS Office computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with high level of accuracy and data quality
  • Ability to multitask and understand the urgency of user inquiries
  • Ability to be proactive, take direction, and establish ownership of projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
  • Strong problem solving and issues resolution abilities
  • Ability to perform under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
  • Capability to apply interpersonal skills and techniques to interact effectively with others at all levels
  • Capability to apply the relevant customer service knowledge to deliver superior service to patients and WCH Staff
  • Proven attendance and punctuality.
  • Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.
