Role Overview
The Junior Coach & Community Coordinator supports the coaching team while helping deliver an exceptional member experience.
This position is designed as an entry point into the Move Strong coaching team, providing mentorship, hands-on experience, and progressive responsibility for individuals interested in developing into professional coaches.
The role is particularly well suited for Kinesiology students or recent graduates who are interested in pursuing a long-term career in coaching, health, fitness, and member development.
In addition to coaching development, this role supports community engagement, content creation, and operational standards that contribute to the overall success of the business.
Future Opportunity
This role is designed to develop future Move Strong coaches.
Individuals who demonstrate strong coaching ability, professionalism, reliability, and alignment with Move Strong's values may have the opportunity to progress into a Coach role with increased responsibilities and compensation.
As Move Strong continues to grow, we anticipate opportunities for expanded coaching hours and full-time coaching positions. While progression timelines will vary based on individual performance and business needs, this role is intended to provide a pathway toward a long-term coaching career within Move Strong.
Coaching Development
~12 hrs/week
The primary focus of this role is coaching development through observation, mentorship, and practical experience to develop and grow into a confident, capable, and professional Move Strong Coach.
Shadow and assist coaching staff during classes
Support programs including Age Strong, Define Basics, Signature, Foundations, HYROX, Metcon, and Functional Movement Screens Assist with class setup and teardown Observe coaching techniques, member interactions, and cueing strategies Learn Move Strong coaching systems, standards, and programming philosophy Participate in coaching development and mentorship opportunities Progress toward independent coaching responsibilities
Community & Member Support
~8 hrs/week
Contribute to an exceptional member experience and strengthen community engagement. Hospitality is crucial and a key piece in our member retention strategy.
Welcome members and guests
Support onboarding and first visits Assist members with questions and facility navigation Support gym challenges, events, and community initiatives Build positive relationships with members Help create a welcoming, energetic, and supportive environment
Content & Brand Support
~6 hrs/week
Help tell the Move Strong story and strengthen brand awareness within the community.
Capture photos and video during classes, events, and community activities
Create and organize content for approval Assist with social media scheduling and content execution Create Instagram stories and member highlights Identify opportunities to showcase member success stories and community culture Support the Move Strong marketing calendar and brand standards
Facility Standards & Operations
~4 hrs/week
Maintain a safe, clean, professional, and welcoming training environment — everyone pitches in here.
Follow facility cleaning and maintenance protocols
Maintain training areas and equipment Reset equipment and spaces between classes as needed Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms and common areas Report maintenance concerns or facility issues Support overall operational standards

Coaching Development
Completion of coaching development hours
Demonstrated improvement in coaching skills Progression toward independent coaching responsibilities Ability to apply Move Strong coaching standards
Member Experience
Positive member interactions
Support of onboarding experiences Contribution to member engagement and retention

Consistent contribution to content creation
Quality and professionalism of content Support of marketing initiatives and brand standards

Completion of facility responsibilities
Adherence to operational standards Positive member feedback regarding facility cleanliness and organization
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Kinesiology program or closely related field Strong interest in strength training, movement, health, and coaching Desire to pursue coaching as a profession and continue developing coaching skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Positive, team-oriented attitude Reliable, professional, and accountable Comfortable receiving feedback and applying it to improve Ability to represent Move Strong professionally both inside and outside the facility
Preferred Qualifications
Personal Training Certification (or working toward one)
CPR / First Aid Certification Experience participating in strength training, athletics, coaching, or sport Experience working with people in a leadership, customer service, teaching, or mentoring capacity Interest in content creation and social media
