We are currently seeking a Sales Specialist to join our Hospitality Services team - a pivotal role that blends strategic sales with personalized client care. This position is all about maximizing catering and banquet sales, building meaningful client relationships, and ensuring that every event hosted at MacDonald Island Park is both seamless and spectacular. Your Role
Reporting to the Manager, Hospitality Services the Sales Specialist will oversee clients and assigned portfolios, working closely with internal and external clientele to maximize the catering sales business. The Sales Specialist will assist clients with banquet and event planning to achieve client goals and provides support for operations in the areas of planning, execution, and vendor/client management.
Your Impact
- Focus on banquet sales, responsible for maximizing space usage and profitability.
- Monitor sales activities/performance to ensure revenue goals meet or exceed established plan and accurately reports variances/projections.
- Maintains existing accounts and relationships as well as builds relationships with new clients through phone, email and in person communication.
- Work one on one with clients to determine event objectives and works with internal departments to ensure client satisfaction while maximizing profitability.
- Liaise directly with RRC internal departments to support space allocation, meeting, and event needs.
- Prepares supporting documentation including quotes, banquet event orders, sales reports, invoices and debrief documents.
- Support and apply established venue, departmental and corporate processes, and procedures to ensure service requirements are met.
- Support departmental financial objectives through sustainable practices and inventory control.
- Promote a culture of safety and adherence to the RRC safety program.
- All other duties as assigned by Manager, Hospitality Services.
Your Accomplishments
- Post-Secondary education related to Event Management, and/or Hospitality Management; Combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum of one (1) year experience with planning and event coordination
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or equivalent (including CPR C)
- Previous experience in food service, banquets and or catering services considered an asset
- Previous experience in entertainment, live events or concert production considered an asset
- Pro Serve Certification considered an asset
- Leadership experience in a unionized environment considered an asset
- Previous vendor management and budget reconciliation experience considered an asset
- Positive and professional attitude
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and effective task completion
- Enjoy working in a demanding and fast-paced environment
- Highly self-motivated, results driven
- Excellent problem solving and communication abilities in high pressure situations
- Excellent time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel
- Flexible with working weekends & evenings to meet seasonal demands
- Knowledge of Alberta Health Services (AHS) standards considered an asset

- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Working Conditions
- This position requires full time work and a flexible schedule including statutory holidays, early morning, late night, and weekend work.
- Work requires use of standard office equipment
- This position may include heavy lifting, carrying, and pushing or pulling of supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- This position requires long periods of sitting down as well as frequent movement within the facility

About Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo
The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) was created by the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) Council in October, 2012 to design, build, steward and operate several state-of-the-art community recreation, sport and event facilities and venues. The RRC was officially incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act on June 10, 2013.
Working in collaboration with the RMWB and with the communities it serves, the RRC builds upon the success of MacDonald Island Park, Canada's largest community recreation and events experience, in order to lead and foster an approach of excellence in service delivery and facilities throughout the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, as well as supporting and enhancing initiatives already in place.
Aligned with the RMWB Municipal Development Plan, new initiatives are being developed utilizing the expertise of the entire region. As a result, the RRC will expand and develop services offered in cooperation with various sport, recreation and community associations to similar quality standards while adapting to suit the needs of each community. The facilities, designed to meet the needs of a growing population, encompass both those within the urban area of Fort McMurray as well as facilities in Anzac, Conklin, and Fort Chipewyan.
Alongside MacDonald Island, which includes the Suncor Community Leisure Centre, Miskanaw Golf Club, and Shell Place (currently under construction at MacDonald Island) and the new Anzac Recreation Centre presented by Nexen Energy, a CNOOC Limited company, these present and future facilities will form the foundation for a new era in community recreation, sport and events in the Wood Buffalo region.

Your Role
