Research Associate (Student Researcher) – Cybersecurity & IoT Research Project
Position Type: Paid Student Research Position Compensation: Minimum $30/hour
About the Opportunity
We are seeking motivated undergraduate and graduate students to join an ongoing research project focused on developing advanced AI-driven cybersecurity solutions for IoT and emerging technologies.
This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and intelligent security systems. Students will contribute to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of real-world cybersecurity solutions while working with modern research platforms and technologies.
Research Focus Areas
The project focuses on:
- AI-driven cybersecurity solutions
- Intelligent threat detection and analysis
- Cognitive defense mechanisms
- Threat intelligence
- Adaptive security systems
- IoT security experimentation and evaluation
A key component of this research is the development of an IoT Security Testbed involving:
- IoT device integration and testing
- Edge computing platforms
- Sensors and smart devices
- Network communication protocols
- Cyberattack simulation
- Network monitoring and security analysis
- Data collection and AI-based processing
Responsibilities
Selected students will contribute to:
- Conducting cybersecurity and IoT research experiments
- Developing and testing technical solutions
- Programming and system implementation
- Setting up and managing IoT security environments
- Performing network traffic analysis and monitoring
- Supporting data processing and visualization activities
- Documenting research findings and technical progress
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Students with experience or interest in the following areas are encouraged to apply:
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Cybersecurity and network security
- Embedded systems (Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pi Pico W, sensors)
- Python programming
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Edge computing
- Network protocols (MQTT, HTTP)
- Network monitoring and traffic analysis
- Data processing and visualization
- Smart device security evaluation
