About PEU Radio

Product Engineering Unit Radio (PEU Radio) drives the end-to-end research and development of Ericsson’s radio products and solutions. We are a global organization, within Radio Transport & Engineering (RTE) of engineers and developers collaborating across sites to drive Ericsson’s strategy of securing our ongoing market leadership in radio, taking a leadership position in 5G and beyond.

Radio Products Canada drives end-to-end radio product development for the site to enable efficient WoW and shorten TTM.

About This Role

We’re building AI native‑ radios and development flows. As our Manager of Applied AI in Radio, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, ML/AI engineers, and software developers who co-design, deploy, and operationalize AI/ML solutions that accelerate radio product performance, quality, and developer productivity. The team partners closely with Radio HW/SW/QA/System/Verification engineering to turn use case‑ ideas into applied agents and models.

You’ll contribute to Ericsson’s AI journey in Radio by steering an applied roadmap, connecting bottom ‑up ideas from the PEU Radio AI community with business outcomes, and ensuring we deliver safely and securely using Ericsson AI platforms and approved cloud resources.

What you will do

  • Lead & grow an applied AI team: recruit, coach, develop, and performance ‑manage diverse talent

  • Own the AI use case‑ inventory for Radio Ottawa: refine problem statements, set success metrics, prioritize pilots, and scale high ‑impact agents and models into the engineering workflow.

  • Partner across HW/SW/+: co‑create with product leads, systems, verification, and quality to target measurable improvements

  • Lead the full AI lifecycle for radio solutions- from data strategy and model development to deployment and integration- ensuring effective adoption of both newly developed AI models and existing AI capabilities within radio workflows

  • Own the AI competence strategy, enabling and supporting training and onboarding initiatives and ensuring teams develop critical capabilities in AI, cloud-native, security, and enterprise networking.

  • Participate in the Ottawa Innovation Garage: Provide strategic alignment and people leadership for AI team

  • Support and promote innovation priorities: Ensure the Innovation Garage functions as an effective environment for new idea exploration, rapid prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration

  • Manage members of the team: Create a productive work environment and ensure execution of work. Ensure the wellbeing of the team. Manage staffing and planning

  • Manage the business of the Units: Act as an interface towards stakeholders and vendors. Ensure good collaboration with other units and PEU’s. Act as the chair and participate in steering groups inside organizations or towards external suppliers

  • Manage the financial efficiency of the unit: Manage Pay, Rewards & Recognition. Be responsible for unit cost management. Contribute and drive internal efficiency, cost effectiveness via new or alignment of existing ways of working, across all other design sections and within own design governance

Nice to have

  • Applied ML/AI: hands-on experience shipping models/agents (LLMs/RAG, classical ML, reinforcement learning) for engineering productivity, troubleshooting, or signal/data analysis.

  • Domain fluency in Radio/RAN: familiarity with RF/antenna concepts, DFE/DSP, logs/telemetry (PM/CM/trace), and performance diagnostics in HW/SW integration.

  • Engineering leadership: proven line management with goal‑setting, coaching, feedback, and succession planning; ability to navigate multi‑stakeholder environments.

  • MLOps & data engineering: pipelines, feature stores, model monitoring; secure integration to approved platforms (EricAI/AWS) and MCP‑based connectors.

  • Software craft: software architecture, design, developing, delivery, testing, and quality practices in regulated enterprise environments.

  • Understanding of natural language processing, image recognition processing and re-enforcement learning technologies and AI application

  • Understanding of the Canadian AI ecosystem: businesses, universities, etc.

Your Pay
The salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

The salary range for this position is

  • LOCATION: $GEOZONEMIN - $105C/RGEOZONE

Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your Financial Security
We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. Ericsson’s Group Retirement & Savings Program offers an automatic 2% company contribution into the Pension Plan. Ericsson also offers a 50% match of employee’s contribution into the Registered Retirement Savings Plan, up to 8% of the employee’s contribution (maximum of 4% match). This leads to a total company contribution potential of 6%. Employees will also basic life insurance and basic accidental death and dismemberment coverage at two-times annual base pay at no cost, as well as short-term disability coverage. Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 18 days of accrued vacation, at least 3personal days, minimum 10 holidays, 1 volunteer day, and sick days. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee’s start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 10 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
