Labourers / Hydrovac Swampers 2/2 Rotation | Year-Round Work | Industrial Site Services

Al’s Contracting is hiring Labourers / Hydrovac Swampers to support hydrovac truck operations and general site services across industrial work sites in Northern Alberta.

  • 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation
  • Year-round steady work program

This is a physically demanding role assisting hydrovac operators and site crews in day-to-day operations. Previous hydrovac experience is an asset but not required, as training will be provided.

The Work

  • Assisting hydrovac truck operators with daylighting and excavation
  • Handling and operating vacuum hoses and equipment
  • Supporting safe exposure of underground utilities
  • Site setup, cleanup, and general labour tasks
  • Assisting with rig support and material handling
  • Spill response and environmental cleanup
  • Working around heavy equipment and active job sites
  • Performing other labour duties as required

Responsibilities

  • Assist hydrovac operators safely and efficiently
  • Perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions
  • Handle hydrovac hoses, wands, and related equipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized worksite
  • Complete daily safety documentation including FLHAs
  • Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings
  • Follow all company safety policies and Alberta OH&S regulations
  • Communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, and crew members

Requirements

  • Previous hydrovac or labour experience is an asset but not required
  • Physically fit and able to perform demanding labour for 12-hour shifts
  • Able to work a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation without limitation
  • Ability to work outdoors in remote environments year-round
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Safety-conscious with good situational awareness
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence preferred
  • Reliable transportation to point of hire

Required Certifications

  • H2S Alive
  • Ground Disturbance Level 2
  • Standard First Aid (CPR)
  • CSTS 2020

Applicants must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
