Position Description
Compass Geomatics is seeking a highly organized and experienced Environmental Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing environmental projects from inception to completion. A key focus of this position will be tracking jobs, managing workflows, and reviewing submissions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. We are a client-focused team committed to delivering practical, cost-effective, and compliant environmental solutions, and we bring a sense of urgency to our clients’ needs — ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a variety of environmental projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Implement and maintain robust systems for tracking project progress, milestones, and deliverables, keeping all stakeholders informed of job status. Review environmental reports, permits, and other regulatory submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations. Act as the primary point of contact for clients — addressing inquiries, providing updates, and ensuring a high level of client satisfaction. Coordinate with field staff, subcontractors, and technical experts to ensure smooth project execution. Maintain organized project files, databases, and documentation to support QA/QC and auditability. Identify project risks, scope changes, and schedule pressures early; recommend practical mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. Proven experience managing environmental projects, preferably within a consulting environment. Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to track multiple jobs and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent attention to detail, specifically in reviewing technical documents and regulatory submissions. Familiarity with Alberta and Western Canadian environmental regulations and compliance standards. Proficiency in project management software and the Microsoft Office Suite. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
