About the role

The Data Analyst will extract and manage key quality indicators and data points from the electronic medical record (EMR) for reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including the Ontario Bariatric Network, and for submission to research study portals. The role is responsible for timely data extraction, validation, analysis, and reporting to meet Ontario Bariatric Network, Ministry, and departmental requirements, ensuring all data are complete, accurate, and submitted within established timelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, mathematics or social sciences with specific training in statistical software packages is required.
  • 1 to 3 years related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in software applications and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and to work independently.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, problem solving and conflict resolution skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills to analyze medical bariatric data and trends.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets and databases with the ability to synthesize information and prepare reports.
  • Strong organizational ability and time management skills.

Education/Training Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition - Required Completion of a Dietitians of Canada (DC) approved dietetic internship, or approved DC equivalent - Required Member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario - Required Responsibilities Membership in the Dietitians of Canada – Preferred

  • Establishes and maintains information systems database and quality of reporting for all clinic activity.
  • Ensures appropriate data is captured for program development, internal performance measures, and external reporting to the Ministry and OBN.
  • Extracts data from multiple sources including patient referrals, and other internal systems to record and track quality indicators required for mandated reporting.
  • Develops and maintains database to ensure continuity across reporting systems.
  • Analyzes data for reports and identifies trends and discrepancies; advises internal team and physicians on potential causes of trends and/or discrepancies.
  • First point of contact for internal health team regarding database inquiries, data maintenance, data quality and specialized statistical reports.
  • Prepares reports for unit operations, management, Ontario Bariatric Network, and Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
  • Creates/runs/maintains mandated reports for external key stakeholders.
  • Ensures all required data and outcome measures are captured to ensure the clinic meets required criteria for further funding.
  • Responsible for data quality, quality of reports, and entirety of data provided.
  • Liaises with external stakeholders in the OBN, other Medical Bariatric Clinics in Ontario, influencing future projects, research, planning, benchmarking, etc.
  • Identifies gaps in practice by quality assurance checks on required data from the Health Professional team.
