Job Description **Program
CMW – 85%**
- Providing support to the daily organizing of the Food Bank
- Receive/decline/distribute Food Bank, non-monetary, donations
- Obtain and secure receipts for gasoline expenditures.
- Ensure the handling/sorting of all food donations in a timely and efficient manner
- Sort/stock food donations in a safe manner
- Weigh all food donations and ensure they are recorded appropriately
- Ensure the cleanliness of the Food Bank area
- Check and record daily refrigerator and freezer temperatures
- Ensure all food is handled according to Ontario Public Health Guidelines as indicated in Feed Ontario handling guide.
- Report any concerns to Community and Family Services Coordinator
- Appropriate disposal of cardboard on a regular basis
- Actively involved in food drives, fundraising efforts.
- Assign duties to food bank volunteers and Train volunteers in practical aspects of Food Bank operations.
- Maintain records and information as required by CFS
- Actively participates in meetings with Ministries Officer and Community and Family Services Coordinator
- Facilitate Food Bank appointments using Link2Feed client management system and distribute food assistance through the Food Bank as per current operational policies
- Issue vouchers to clients for basic needs for the thrift store as per policy
- Provide and document resource referrals to clients to address needs
- Under the direction of the CFSC, assist with the delivery and creation of new programs and services in the community as identified
- Network with referral agencies and/or other community sources of assistance, as required
- Ability to perform Client Intake and CFS administration duties (telephone/correspondence) that may need to be addressed in the absence of the Community and Family Services Coordinator
Custodial – 15%
- Perform regular cleaning duties in and around the Army property, to maintain a high quality of cleanliness and appearance such as cleaning floors, cleaning washrooms and restocking supplies, windows, dusting, collects and disposes of garbage, vacuums.
- Perform regular minor maintenance around Army property.
- Ensures the general upkeep of external property such as keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice, salting, cleaning outside windows, picking up litter, and sweeping sidewalks.
- Provide periodic garbage removal to the Thrift Store.
- Assist with ensuring proper security of Army property.
- Plan daily/weekly route to ensure CFS requirements and custodial requirements are met.
- Maintain knowledge of legislative and company policies such as Health & Safety Regulations, Provincial and Municipal highway traffic acts.
- Conduct and record monthly fire extinguisher checks/logs.
- Responsible for monitoring all hazardous materials coming into the building ensuring Safety Data Sheets are printed and posted before the item is added to inventory and ensures safe handling of all hazardous materials.
- Arrange for discarding of items that are not usable in accordance with policy.
- Facilitate any Christmas program needs with a potential to take on a leadership role.
- Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner.
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Financial And Materials Management
- Minor material responsibility (proper use and safekeeping of cleaning equipment and chemicals).
- Maintains organization’s assets in accordance with established guidelines.
- Does not process any financial transactions with no budget responsibilities.
Working Conditions Working environment is: Food Bank (85%), Custodial (15%) both inside & outside of Corps location
- Requires standing and lifting up to 30lbs
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends to meet program needs
- Exposure to weather as work is done indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
- Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to odours, toxic chemicals, electrical hazards, and infectious diseases.
- May encounter angry or aggressive people and may experience verbal abuse, and less likely physical attacks.
- Exposed to washrooms (human waste).
- Risk of needle pricks, back injuries, and repetitive strain injuries.
The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, exemplifying Christian standards of conduct. Education Experience Requirements
- Completion of some High School.
- MUST have valid Driver’s license and provide a clear drivers abstract.
- Able to provide Criminal Background Check screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
- WHMIS Training
- FoodSafe certification required

Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $20.64 with a maximum of $24.77.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
