About the role
Sinai Health is looking for a Senior Manager to support Patient Flow within the Urgent and Critical Care and Surgical Programs. The role is located at our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.
This role will facilitate the timely movement of admitted patients to the most appropriate in-patient unit to meet their care needs. Working in collaboration with managers, clinical coordinators, team leaders, infection control and members of the interdisciplinary team and physicians, the Senior Manager will ensure that the organization is able to optimize bed utilization and assure a positive patient experience by supporting the right bed is assigned at the right time. This role will report to the Senior Clinical Program Director, Urgent and Critical Care.

You have the capacity to establish productive partnerships with patients, families, community partners and all members of the health care team. You will lead and support corporate processes and quality improvement strategies focused on system flow and access. You will design and institute systems and processes to guide service provision.
In this role you will:
- Lead the Mount Sinai Hospital daily bed management meetings
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless care transitions
- Develop guidelines and processes to facilitate smooth transitions for patients and team members across departments/units
- Collaborate with the Sr. Manager of Complex Transitions on supporting patient flow and alternative level of care initiatives in acute care
- Support the achievement of key performance metrics related to patient flow
- Facilitate and provide leadership for resource utilization at a program level to enable flow
- Foster and promote a collaborative environment that is based on mutual respect among all team members
- Lead, monitor and evaluate continuous quality improvement that supports departmental goals and aligns with the hospital’s strategic direction
- Establish, promote, and maintain public relations through effective communication
- Participate as a member/leader of program and Corporate committees
- Support the achievement of Accreditation practices and Quality Improvement Plan goals
- Lead associated access and flow committee forums (as required)
- Assuming Hospital on call (as required)
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required

Graduate of a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline

Current certificate of registration with the regulated health professionals governing college

5 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting requiring critical thinking and judgement for quality patient care

Previous leadership experience
Skills and Knowledge

Demonstrated resource allocation and planning experience, specifically the coordination and delivery of care services

Knowledge of health system priorities and pressures and relationship with system partners (e.g. Ontario Health Teams, Home and Community supports, CAMH etc.)

Demonstrated leadership qualities and superior interpersonal skills

Proven experience in quality improvement; success leading, monitoring and evaluating process/systems to identify and achieve efficiencies

Flexible with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multitasking and dynamic environment
