An opportunity exists for a Senior Programmer Analysts - Geographic Information System (GIS) to contribute to the Corporate GIS infrastructure team. The infrastructure team ensures the City's GIS platform technology and geospatial data are current, resilient, and supported to meet our corporation's business needs. In this role, you will support GIS end users and work to ensure the geospatial platform's continuous improvement. Primary duties include:
- Triage the GIS support queue and provide GIS end user support.
- Design, document, construct, administer, analyze, test, and troubleshoot the city's GIS platform and related technologies, including desktop, server, and cloud components.
- Design, document, and automate GIS platform operational processes including administration, monitoring, diagnostics, reporting, backup recovery, and lifecycle.
- Evaluate emerging GIS and related technology.
- Liaise with application users, Solution Architects, Developers, and other IT service owners to provide guidance and review of solution designs; conduct quality assurance checks; and ensure compliance with standards and design patterns.
Qualifications
- A completed 2-year diploma in Computer Science, Geography, GIS, Math or Engineering.
- At least 5 years of GIS user support, GIS system administration, or GIS software development/support experience is required.
- Demonstrated strength in supporting and troubleshooting ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) Software.
- Demonstrated strength in automation scripting via python and Windows PowerShell.
- Demonstrated experience with Web Services, JavaScript, HyperText Markup Language (HTML), and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON).
- Demonstrated experience with an enterprise relational database like Microsoft Structured Query Language (MS SQL) Server or Oracle.
- Experience with planning, designing, implementing, and administering an enterprise level GIS deployment using ESRI ArcGIS technology (ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS/PRO, ArcGIS Monitor) is an asset.
- Experience with Azure cloud administration or solutions development is an asset.
- Experience with Power Apps and Power Automate is an asset.
- The successful applicant must demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to plan and organize complex tasks, and strong mentorship and client relations experience.

- A security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
Workstyle
- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Position Type: 1 Temporary (up to 12 months)
Compensation: Pay Grade $11 $46.21 - 61.78 per hour Out-of-Schedule Rates: $57.27 - 69.67 per hour. This position is presently paid at an Out-of-Schedule rate to reflect current market conditions. Should market conditions change, the salary may be reviewed and may revert to the base rate.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
