BGC Okanagan is hiring a Program Coordinator for our group based Aspire Program. Aspire is an after-school program for children and youth with diverse abilities, operating Monday to Friday across Lake Country, Kelowna, and West Kelowna.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and orientation of program staff and volunteers.

  • Provides daily direction and performance feedback to staff and volunteers.

  • Develops and implements Individual Support Plans; contributes to program evaluation.

  • Supports budget tracking and communicates financial needs to management.

  • Participate in assessments, goal setting, and program planning.

  • Applies culturally safe, trauma-informed, relational, and family-centered approaches.

  • Implement strategies to support children and youth with diverse needs.

  • Assists members with daily living, social, and behavioral skills; facilitates life skills, recreation, education, and vocational activities.

  • Recognizes, analyzes, and manages potential emergency situations such as aggressive behavior to minimize harm to the other participants and/or the public.

  • Builds and maintains positive relationships and communication with caregivers and families.

  • Maintains written reports regarding participants’ daily activities and progress. This includes progress reports, transition reports, and daily case notes. Ensure that all required documentation is complete, accurate, and up-to-date and that confidentiality is a priority.

  • Transports participants from school sites to club sites, or on trips.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in human/social service or childcare field and one-year relevant experience working with children and youth with support needs or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • One (1) year recent related supervisory or administrative experience.

  • Excellent oral, written, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • First Aid Certificate.

  • Class 4 Driver’s Licence

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Rate of Pay: $28.11 per hour
