About the role

JOB SUMMARY

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading Purity Gas’s engineering function and ensuring that engineered nitrogen generation systems are designed, released, built, changed, and supported through controlled, scalable, and repeatable technical processes. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role provides day-to-day leadership and mentoring to the engineering team while owning engineering output quality, drawing and BOM accuracy, engineering change control, technical review discipline, and cross-functional support to Production, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and Field Service. The Engineering Manager plays a critical role in strengthening Purity Gas’s transition from custom project execution toward a more standardized, modular, and production-ready engineering model. This includes implementing practical engineering controls, maintaining configuration discipline, supporting ISO 9001:2015-aligned workflows, and ensuring that design changes, production redlines, field feedback, and customer-driven revisions are evaluated and incorporated through a formal Engineering Change Order process. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Engineering Leadership Lead the day-to-day operation of the Engineering department, including workload planning, technical priorities, team communication, engineering deliverables, and resource allocation. Assign engineering work based on customer commitments, production critical path, technical risk, quality risk, safety risk, and release-readiness requirements. Provide technical direction, coaching, and accountability to engineering team members, including engineers, designers, technologists, and other technical contributors. Run structured engineering meetings, design reviews, workload reviews, and technical action reviews to ensure engineering work is visible, prioritized, and progressing. Maintain clear visibility of open engineering actions, overdue technical decisions, drawing releases, ECOs, production support requests, and customer-driven engineering revisions. Ensure the Engineering team understands and maintains the distinction between preliminary design work, production-release work, customer-facing documentation, and controlled technical records. Escalate resource constraints, systemic technical risks, recurring design issues, and cross-functional blockers to the Director of Operations with clear options and recommended actions. Promote a culture of accountability, technical discipline, practical problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration. Engineering Change Control, Documentation, and Configuration Management Own and manage the engineering change process, including ECRs, ECOs, drawing revisions, BOM revisions, production redlines, deviations, waivers, and technical dispositions. Ensure all engineering changes are reviewed for technical, safety, cost, schedule, procurement, customer, production, field-service, and quality impacts before release. Lead cross-functional engineering change reviews with Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Supply Chain, Field Service, and Technical Services. Maintain control, accuracy, and completeness of released engineering packages, including drawings, schematics, BOMs, specifications, technical documentation, and supporting records. Ensure engineering documentation supports procurement, production, testing, commissioning, field service, customer requirements, traceability, and final system configuration. Prevent uncontrolled design drift by ensuring that shop-floor changes, supplier substitutions, customer-driven revisions, and field modifications are reviewed and approved through the appropriate engineering process. Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure engineering documentation, technical dispositions, and change records support ISO 9001:2015 requirements, traceability, corrective action, and continuous improvement. Reduce recurring engineering and documentation errors by improving release standards, review discipline, templates, and engineering-control processes. Production Support, Product Standardization, and Project Engineering Serve as the primary engineering escalation point for production issues, drawing errors, BOM discrepancies, technical questions, supplier substitutions, and customer-driven engineering changes. Provide timely engineering support to Production, Project Management, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Field Service while maintaining appropriate design control and documentation discipline. Lead engineering efforts to transition Purity Gas toward scalable, modular, repeatable NITROCENTER® and NitroVault™ system designs. Collaborate cross-functionally to improve product standardization, reduce unnecessary variation, improve manufacturability, and support higher production volume. Support DFM/DFA reviews to improve build efficiency, serviceability, quality, repeatability, and first-pass production performance. Support Project Management by translating customer requirements into controlled engineering inputs, technical assumptions, design risks, and engineering deliverables. Ensure customer-driven changes are reviewed internally for feasibility, cost, schedule, procurement, production, quality, and field-service impact before implementation. Maintain clear communication across Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Supply Chain, Field Service, and Technical Services.

Engineering Metrics and Continuous Improvement Develop and monitor practical engineering KPIs related to engineering performance, release quality, change control, production support, and recurring technical issues. Use engineering metrics to identify bottlenecks, recurring errors, and opportunities for improved standards, training, review discipline, and process control. Support initiatives to improve engineering throughput, reduce preventable errors, improve first-pass quality, and strengthen the connection between Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Field Service. Participate in risk assessments, root-cause analysis, design reviews, technical reviews, and continuous improvement activities as required. Promote a management culture based on accountability, controlled execution, technical clarity, manufacturing awareness, and cross-functional problem solving.
