We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative Planning Project Manager to join our Planning team!
Committed to the guiding values of the Town of Innisfil’s Strategic Plan 2030, you will take a ‘Future Ready’ approach to project management and strategic land use planning initiatives that implement the objectives of the Town’s Official Plan including increasing the supply of affordable housing and promoting complete and sustainable communities throughout Innisfil.
The Planning Project Manager is responsible for the overall project management of complex development files and strategic initiatives (like the Town’s Orbit Secondary Plan implementation, and implementation of the Town’s Official Plan and Strategic Plan), as well as:
- Facilitating complex planning and development applications through the lens of place making and sustainability to ensure development contributes to successful community building in Innisfil.
- Managing project scope, deliverables, timelines and budget while ensuring consistency with final work plan. Develops formal project management documents including project charters, work plans/ Gantt charts, Scope Statements.
- Providing guidance on complex development files, plans and strategies related to community growth and development, including implementation of the Town’s sustainability principles and new or pending legislation and regulatory guidelines.
- Conducting research, preparing policy papers/reports, and developing policy recommendations.
- Providing input on deliverables produced by the consultant team including draft policies, reports, by-laws, plans, maps, and technical analysis to ensure Town and project requirements are met; providing professional planning expertise and opinions to help shape and inform recommendations made by the consultant team.
Job Requirements
The preferred candidate holds:

A Degree in Urban or Regional Planning or related field.

Full Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and/or Ontario Professional Planners Institute is required.

A certified Project Management designation (PMP) is considered an asset.

Five (5) years of experience in planning and development application experience ideally with an urban design focus and including all aspects of zoning and / or Community Planning Permit System (CPPS), administration, site plan control, Committee of Adjustment services.

Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business and availability to attend meeting/events and/or peak period workloads that may extend beyond the normal workday or occur on evenings/weekends, as may be required.
