Starting Rate: $50.53 Per hour + Additional pay
Sunday Shift Premium - time and one-half (1½) the regular hourly rate
Afternoons Shift Premium - $1/hour Night Shift Premium - $2/hour Tool Allowance

Perform maintenance and repairs to the MiWay Transit Fleet as set forth by the policy of the Fleet Maintenance Section. Must be able to read and understand various schematics related to MiWay Transit Fleet vehicles. Use laptop computers to diagnose electrical and electronic system faults. Must be proficient in the use of electronic diagnostic readers. Must be able to meet reasonable time expectancy in performing assigned duties. Work on Transit Fleet vehicles under inclement weather conditions. Undertake road call diagnosis and repair. Must wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Must posses own green patch CSA approved safety footwear.
Must posses all necessary hand tools used to perform inspections, services and repairs. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum grade 12 - Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or verified equivalent, is considered an asset. Valid 310T - Truck and Coach Technician Certificate of Qualification, issued by Skilled Trades Ontario and maintained in good standing. 310S – Automotive Service Technician trade licence is an asset. A minimum of five (5) years of combined experience as an Apperentice and Journeyperson. Must have a valid G Driver’s License; D or C Ontario Driver’s License with a “Z” endorsement is preferred. A driver’s license abstract acceptable to the CIty is also required. Experience with electronic multiplexed Heavy Duty diesel engine and automatic transmission vehicles is preferred. Additional courses in the mechanic’s trade will be an asset. Familiarity with computerized work orders preferred. Knowledge of the O.H. & S. Act and Regulations, including WHMIS, and the Ministry of Transportation Highway Traffic Act is preferred. Work independently with minimum supervision. Ability and willingness to stay current with new technologies and equipment to perform bus repairs. Working experience in a Unionized environment is an asset.
