Contract Duration: February 9, 2026 – February 27, 2026
Hours: Part-time (up to 30 hours per week)
Role Summary
The Bilingual Academic Facilitator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery and success of ILSC’s professional development program for international educators. Working closely with the Program Manager, the facilitator provides linguistic and operational support to a group of visiting Brazilian educators during their three-week training in Toronto.
This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and flexibility to accommodate varying program schedules. Facilitators act as a bridge between participants, instructors, and the ILSC team, ensuring that participants feel supported and guided throughout their experience.
Work Schedule and Timeline
The Bilingual Academic Facilitator role is a part-time, fixed-term position. Due to the nature of the program, work hours may vary and may include weekends or evenings depending on scheduled visits and activities.

Pre-program orientation and training: February 6, 2026 (online or on-site, TBD)

Regular work hours: Up to 30 hours per week, as scheduled by the Program Manager
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Participant Support
-
Accompany and supervise program participants during on-campus sessions and off-site educational visits.
-
Offer linguistic and logistical support to participants, including assistance with transportation, meal coordination, and general city information.
-
Translate program content and interactions between participants and instructors as needed (English/Portuguese).
-
Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and professional learning environment.
Academic and Operational Support
-
Assist the Program Manager with day-to-day administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, material distribution, schedule coordination, and report preparation.

Support facilitators and instructors in setting up classrooms, technology, and materials for daily sessions.
-
Provide updates and communicate key information to participants regarding schedule changes, locations, and logistics.

Ensure the timely resolution of participants’ questions or challenges, referring matters to the Program Manager as appropriate.
Program Coordination and Representation

Demonstrate strong knowledge of the program content, objectives, and daily schedule.

Act as a liaison between participants, the ILSC academic team, and partner institutions.

Uphold ILSC’s standards of professionalism, ensuring the welfare, safety, and satisfaction of participants at all times.

Support external visits to educational institutions, government offices, and community partners, providing translation and coordination assistance.
Skills and Attributes
Essential

Bilingual proficiency in Portuguese and English (oral and written)

Experience working in an educational, training, or international program setting

Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills

Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail

Flexibility to work variable hours, including occasional evenings or weekends

Positive, proactive, and service-oriented attitude
Desirable

Experience in translation or interpretation (English/ Portuguese)

Knowledge of the Canadian education system

Previous experience supporting international visitors or educational delegations
