ABOUT THE ROLE

HealthOPM is recruiting on behalf of a Toronto-based non-profit organization that operates a trauma-informed Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT) live-in treatment program for high-needs youth.

The Live-In Treatment Awake Overnight Worker, AHT provides overnight supervision and support within a trauma-informed, Live-In Treatment environment for female-identified survivors of sex trafficking and/or sexual exploitation, ages 12–17 as well as completing designated household tasks, administrative duties and contributing to operational tasks as requested to support the program.

The Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT) Live-In Treatment program operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year and offers continuous care and supervision to youth with complex needs.

Salary range: $43,984.47 to $51,220.40 per annum (for full-time permanent); $21.15 to $24.63 per hour (for part-time permanent)

Position details:

  • Three (3) Full-time permanent positions
  • Three (3) part-time permanent positions (up to 24 hours per week)

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Monitor the program cellphone for real-time alerts regarding planned or unplanned guest entry to the physical site, ensuring appropriate verification, documentation, and activation of risk mitigation protocols when necessary
  • Household cleaning, disinfecting, sanitizing and organizing and preparation for the following day.
  • Complete required administrative duties.
  • Client checks as determined by program and client needs (ex. Suicide watch).
  • Remaining in appropriate proximity where clients sleep (i.e., bedrooms).

THE MUST HAVES

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

  • Relevant education and experience – Diploma in relevant program.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working as a CYW/ CYC with youth who have complex needs (e.g., experience supporting youth with histories of homelessness, substance use, significant trauma, and/or mental health challenges).
  • Awareness of the role of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
  • An understanding of anti-black racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
  • Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.

THE NICE TO HAVES

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • CYCP education would be an asset.
  • Work experience and/or lived experience related to childhood sexual exploitation, trafficking, or gender-based violence is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in a Live-In Treatment setting is considered an asset.
  • Certified in First Aid / CPR is an asset, and training in Crisis Management and knowledge of Crisis Management and Intervention Models.
  • Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
  • Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
