The Opportunity:
ML6 has partnered with an iconic Canadian business to recruit a Payroll & Benefits Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of payroll operations, benefits administration, and HRIS management within a dynamic, multi-site environment.
Reporting to the Director of Payroll, the Payroll & Benefits Manager will act as the organization's payroll subject matter expert, overseeing full-cycle payroll processing, benefits administration, compliance, and system optimization initiatives. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy, enhancing operational efficiencies, and supporting an exceptional employee experience across a geographically dispersed workforce.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and solutions-focused professional who enjoys balancing day-to-day operational excellence with continuous improvement and project-based work.
What You'll Be Doing:
Manage end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all applicable legislation. Serve as the internal subject matter expert for ADP Workforce Now, supporting system administration, troubleshooting, reporting, and process optimization. Review and validate payroll inputs including overtime, statutory holiday pay, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and payroll adjustments. Administer employee benefits programs, leave processes, and payroll-related employee documentation throughout the employee lifecycle. Prepare and reconcile payroll reporting, ROEs, T4s, taxable benefits, remittances, audits, and year-end payroll activities. Partner with HR and Operations teams to support onboarding workflows, employee data management, and workforce administration processes. Identify and implement opportunities to improve payroll workflows, reporting capabilities, automation, and operational efficiencies. Maintain compliance with payroll legislation, employment standards, internal policies, and HRIS data governance requirements while supporting cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
5+ years of progressive payroll experience in a multi-site, retail, hospitality, franchise, or similarly operational environment. Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now, including payroll processing, reporting, and system administration. Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, employment standards, ROEs, taxable benefits, remittances, and year-end processing. Experience administering employee benefits programs and supporting HR administration processes. Proven ability to support payroll system enhancements, implementations, or process improvement initiatives. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with strong analytical and reporting capabilities. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; PCP designation (or progress toward completion) is considered an asset.
Compensation Range: $85,000 - $100,000 base salary
