Position Summary: Briefly describe why the position exists

Reporting to the Support Services Manager and working as a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Cook is responsible for the planning, coordinating and functioning of the dietary needs of the residents and families of Agapé Hospice in accordance with the Hospice mission and vision. The Cook will also ensure that safety is always considered first when performing the various performance requirements within this position description, including but not limited to reducing risks for self and others, and maintaining safety standards at an acceptable level.

In accordance with Alberta Occupational Health & Safety standards and regulations, health and safety is to be held as one of the highest care values at Agapé Hospice.

  • Prepares sufficient amounts of food for residents, guests and for catered functions according to established menu rotation.
  • Reviews menus and makes any suggestions for changes to the Food Services Coordinator, in consultation with caregiving staff.
  • Coordinates food preparation and service in the kitchen.
  • Stores perishable food and avoids waste as per established guidelines.

  • Maintains sanitary regulations in the work area.
  • Advises the Food Services Coordinator regarding inventory of kitchen equipment & utensils and assists in the purchasing of items

as delegated.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $21.81 to $22.87 with a maximum of $23.92.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
