Maintenance Attendant - Victoria Hall
About the role
Purpose of the position
This position consists of cleaning and maintaining the Victoria Hall building, and, when required, other buildings belonging to the City; installing equipment for meetings, activities, and events in various rooms; as well as providing assistance.
The incumbent must also welcome members of the public; provide basic information; and ensure both compliance with directives and the proper use of City property. Additionally, the incumbent shall be responsible for the set-up of the rooms and equipment provided for meetings of various community groups and for cultural activities.
Main Responsibilities
- Opens and inspects the building, checking for any abnormalities and noting any anomalies;
- Carries out regular rounds of the buildings to ensure that order is maintained and that the rules and regulations governing the use of the premises and the City's property are complied with. If necessary, ensures that the doors are locked and the windows are closed;
- Is responsible for setting up all rooms for meetings, activities and events. This includes preparing tables, chairs, coffee and arranging food, drinks and crockery;
- Cleans rooms after meetings, etc. including washing dishes, glasses and utensils and storing furniture and supplies;
- Keeps kitchens, bathrooms and other areas clean and tidy. Cleans cooker, refrigerator, sink, counters and toilets as required and restocks bathrooms with paper when necessary;
- Keeps a register of department equipment such as tables, chairs and coolers, as well as other furniture including audio-visual equipment.
Education, Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma;
- Valid driver’s licence;
- Several experiences having enabled the incumbent to become familiar with the work involved.
Abilities and Skill
- Customer service approach;
- Bilingualism, spoken and written (French and English).
Hourly rate: $34.34
Work Schedule: Approximately 4 to 10 hours per week; the schedule varies based on operational needs.
