Join Our Team as a Fitter/Welder! Valiant TMS, a global industry leader, is looking for a skilled Fitter/Welder to join our heavy fabrication and machining team at Valco Manufacturing Inc. If you are looking to join a highly skilled team and are excited to contribute to both production and custom fabrication projects, this opportunity is for you!
What You’ll Get To Do
- Select appropriate welding equipment and plan the welding sequence to ensure efficient operations.
- Prepare materials through grinding, carbon arc cleaning, scale removal, or beveling to maintain proper welding standards.
- Apply the correct weld size according to customer specifications and industry best practices.
- Inspect welds for defects using gauges and analysis techniques, performing repairs as needed.
- Interpret drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Layout, position, align, and secure components using measuring tools, clamps, and tack welds.
- Shape metal parts with arc or flame cutting equipment to meet specifications or repair damage.
- Conduct “Five Whys” root cause analysis on all non-conformances to identify and address underlying issues.
- Follow company and industry safety standards to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Completed high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an Apprentice Program and certification in the trade by the Province of Ontario is considered a bonus.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and identify weld defects. Proficient in quality assurance methods and best practices, including GD&T. Able to read drawings in both first and third angle projection.
- Mathematical Competency: Proven strength and competency in mathematics relevant to welding and fitting tasks.
- Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment, prioritizing plans of action to accomplish objectives.
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
