SCOPE:
Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Maintenance and Operations, the Chargehand - Electrician will perform varied trades work of a supervisory nature and assists senior supervisory staff in the direction, supervision and planning of the crews in building maintenance and construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist senior supervisory staff in the planning, direction, and supervision of the work of the crews in electrical trades in construction and maintenance of City facilities and buildings.
- Assist crew members in installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, fixtures, light and heat systems.
- Assist in preparing work schedules, determining materials and equipment required.
- Assist in ensuring work performed by the trades and others is completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Ensure safety regulations are being met by the crews.
- Performs other job duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Considerable experience in supervision, building maintenance and construction as a qualified trades electrician.
- Electrical Trades Qualification.
- Class B Electrical FSR certification.
- Valid BC. Driver's License with safe driving record.
- Be able to obtain and maintain SPS Reliability Security Clearance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Leadership and supervisory abilities to work well within a team environment and provide clear direction to the crew.
- Knowledge and application of safety procedures and the safe conduct of the crew.
- Ability to use judgement and make decisions to ensure jobs are performed to quality and productivity expectations.
- Thorough knowledge of standard practices, principles, techniques, materials, and equipment used in the electrical trade.
- Thorough working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (Part 1) and related codes.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable safety regulations.
