Location: Innisfail, AB

We are seeking a proactive, field-oriented Safety Advisor to support our operations in the Innisfail, AB region. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about safety, comfortable working independently, and thrives in a dynamic, on-the-ground environment. As a key member of our team, you will work directly with drivers, terminal staff, and leadership to drive a culture of accountability, risk prevention, and continuous improvement.
This position involves a strong field presence. While there are administrative responsibilities, the majority of your time will be spent engaging with frontline teams, conducting coaching sessions, responding to incidents, and identifying safety opportunities in real time. If you lead by example and believe effective safety starts with presence and trust, this may be the role for you.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate must reside near Innisfail, AB and be willing to work on weekend days as required, and be available for after hours calls.
- Maintain a strong field presence. Conduct coaching-focused safe behaviour observations, covert assessments, competency evaluations, and in-person driver mentorship aligned with established KPIs.
- Lead incident response and investigations. Provide first-response support, lead root cause analyses, and contribute to corrective action plans that prevent recurrence.
- Deliver purposeful training. Support onboarding and refresher training for drivers and operations staff in partnership with the safety and dispatch teams.
- Coach to strengthen compliance. Guide drivers and field staff on safe loading and unloading practices, hazardous materials handling, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Own field risk identification. Identify and address hazards proactively by working with operations, leadership, and customers to implement practical, sustainable solutions.
- Support the Drug and Alcohol Program. Serve as an internal collector and promote safety-focused substance awareness with professionalism and discretion.
- Engage with teams and customers. Help align safety priorities with day-to-day dispatch needs, and identify opportunities to support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
What you bring:
- Three (3) years of related safety experience in the transportation industry.
- A Class 1/AZ driver’s license is considered an asset.
- Overnight travel to various sites may be required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong written communication skills to accurately document incident events, investigation results, and outcomes for internal and external audiences.
- Good working knowledge of the transportation industry and its operations, including a variety of commodities and dangerous goods.
- An OH&S certificate or related courses are considered assets.
- Knowledge of the dispatch system, TMW, is considered an asset.
Total Compensation:
