We’re looking for a Civil Engineering Technologist to join our Onsite Wastewater Group within Burnside’s Environmental sector. This role is based in our Mississauga office, with flexibility to work from other Burnside offices depending on candidate fit. You’ll support the delivery of practical, field-informed onsite wastewater solutions and play a hands-on role in projects from site investigation through design and regulatory approval.
This is an opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers and technologists on technically complex projects where your contributions directly impact real-world outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you’ll support and contribute to the successful delivery of onsite wastewater and rural servicing projects by:
- Preparing design-ready drawings and technical documentation for septic and small to medium-scale onsite wastewater systems in support of permitting and approvals
- Assisting with and participating in field investigations, including test pits, site evaluations, and construction reviews, applying sound judgment and attention to detail
- Translating field data and design concepts into accurate drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Coordinating with engineers, fellow technologists, clients, and regulators to help move projects from concept through approval
- Supporting project schedules and budgets through effective time management and organized work practices
- Reviewing drawings, reports, and calculations to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards
- Contributing to a collaborative team environment and supporting other project needs as required
What You’ll Bring
Education & Credentials
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline
- Eligibility for or current membership with OACETT
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
Technical Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Experience or strong interest in onsite sewage systems and rural wastewater servicing
- Ability to integrate field observations and data into clear, accurate designs
- Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code is considered an asset
