We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our Quality Engineering Team in beautiful Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. An affiliate of the Airbus Group of Companies, STELIA is an aerospace and defence company specializing in the design, development, and manufacturing of composite components and assemblies. Headquartered in Lunenburg, NS, and with a site in Mirabel, QC, we operate more than 150,000 sq feet of facilities dedicated to operations, manufacturing and administration.

The Quality Engineering Specialist will establish, support and monitor the quality requirements within the manufacturing process in accordance with the customer requirements.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate and manage activities to establish, assess, and enhance manufacturing process quality.
  • Contribute to configuration management of the program quality plan, including internal and external document reviews, customer requirements, and the development and maintenance of production inspection processes.
  • Support and lead process, system, and quality management system audits.
  • Facilitate and lead Material Review Board activities for applicable programs, including evaluating and resolving non-conformances, supporting rework/repair assessments, and implementing root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Drive and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee and support external qualification activities.
  • Develop and implement training plans to enhance quality standards and processes.
  • Manage quality-related communications with customers, including identifying and resolving quality issues, handling Notices of Escape, and participating in customer audits.
  • Analyze and refine production processes, engineering specifications, and related data to enhance manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities for assigned processes/programs.
  • Develop and implement inspection test plans.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections.
  • Perform tooling and equipment calibrations.
  • Supervise and oversee delegated inspectors to ensure compliance with quality standards.

You have:

  • Degree in industrial/mechanical/aerospace engineering or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • 5-7 years’ engineering experience (experience in manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Professional engineering designation or ability to register to attain one.
  • ASQ Quality Engineering Certification (or equivalent) and/or process and business system audit training/certification an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with industry quality management systems, such as: AS9100, ISO 9001, Transport Canada, NADCAP as well as experience using CAD/CAM software.
  • Aerostructures and composite manufacturing processes experience an asset.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and teamwork skills.
  • Project management and/or root cause and corrective action skills an asset.
  • Knowledge/training with various manufacturing and quality philosophies (LEAN, 6-sigma, JIT, 5S, etc.) an asset.
  • Experience using MS suite of products.
