About Civil Works
Civil Works is a cocktail bar located inside the Waterworks Food Hall at 50 Brant Street in downtown Toronto. Since opening, we've been recognized as one of the leading cocktail bars in North America.

Civil Works is part of the Tributary Hospitality group, alongside Civil Liberties and Third Place Toronto.
We are looking for experienced hospitality professionals who take the craft seriously, hold themselves to a high standard, and are committed to the ongoing work it takes to remain on the world's best bar lists year over year.

What to bring to your interview:

- Copy of your Smart Serve certification
- Government-issued ID
- Your availability
Requirements:
- Valid Smart Serve certification
- Intermediate proficiency with OpenTable
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in high-volume restaurants, cocktail bars, or bottle service
- Able to stand for 8-hour shifts and lift 40 lbs
- Minimum 3-4 days of availability per week, including weekends
- Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Willing to participate in industry events and Toronto industry education sessions
- Personal commitment to ongoing self-directed learning in spirits, cocktails, service, and personal development on your own time as part of the role
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve food and craft cocktails in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
- Deliver outstanding guest service with every interaction
- Work effectively in a loud, high-volume setting
- Collaborate with bartenders, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth service
- Keep your section clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Know the food and cocktail menus thoroughly and make confident recommendations
- Upsell strategically to maximize guest check averages
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in high-volume restaurants or cocktail bars
- Genuine passion for hospitality and a clear commitment to personal development
- Goal-oriented with a long-term view of your career in the industry
- Demonstrated ability to hold and uphold high standards in service, product, and presentation
- Strong team player who contributes to a collaborative, high-performance environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure
- Flexible availability across evenings, weekends, and holidays
Compensation: Tips distributed weekly, hourly pay, 4% vacation paid each paycheque, staff discount in the hall on food. Industry events, and education.
