Job Description & Requirements
Purpose of Position
The Educational Assistant (Lift Bus) provides the Lift Bus Driver with additional assistance when transporting special needs students. This includes physically assisting when entering/exiting the Lift Bus, and monitoring students during transportation ensuring students are seated safely and securely.
Duties and Responsibilities
Are established by the Supervisor of Transportation within the parameters of the job profile.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent 1 to 2 years related experience.
- General knowledge and demonstrated ability to follow structured procedures and directions.
- Specific knowledge of Lift Bus operation in order to assist students in entry/exit and seating.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with service dogs while transporting students, if required.
- Effective basic reading and writing skills.
- Effective moderate interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with a wide range of special needs students.
Preferred Qualifications
- WHMIS training/certification.
- Unified Referral & Intake System (URIS) training.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.
Your cover letter must clearly indicate how you meet the required qualifications.
Permanent CUPE employees presently on staff will be given early consideration, in accordance with COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT.
