Job Description RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary This position involves conducting prospective clinical studies, including clinical trials, in Nephrology diseases.

General Duties

  • Learning all details of a research protocol,
  • Recruitment and Informed Consent Process,
  • Scheduling participant visits and performing clinical assessment of all study patients as per protocol procedures,
  • Coordinating all aspects of a clinical trial i.e. correspondence, laboratory, pharmacy, shipping, etc.
  • Preparing for monitoring visits,
  • Participant care, and potentially blood draws and administering study treatments,
  • Ensures accurate timely completion and submission of case report forms,
  • Available to participants for guidance and support,
  • Monitoring of side effects for participants on certain medications,
  • Experience preparing submission of research protocols to Internal Ethics Board is an asset.

Education / Experience

Education: Diploma of College Studies (DEC)

Field of Study: DEC in Nursing is required. A Bachelor’s degree in nursing in considered an asset.

Other Education Considered An Asset For This Position Work Experience: 1 to 5 years of research experience.

Professional Membership: ☒ Yes ☐ No

Registered with the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ).

Required Skills

  • Excellent French and English, spoken and written,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision,
  • Computer literacy, Microsoft Word, Excel et REDCap,
  • Research experience with clinical trials is preferred & on-the- job training will be available,
  • Experience in patient care, including blood sampling and administering medication via IV injection.

Additional information

Status : Temporary Occasional: Between 5 to 15 hours per week.

Pay Scale : Commensurate with education & work experience.

DEC Nurse : $24.40 - $45.29/h

BAC Nurse : $30.60 - $56.82/h

Work Shift : Variable schedule

Work Site : Multisite
