Position Title: Technology Specialist, Quality
Reports To: Senior Technology Manager, Enterprise Platforms
Department: IT Corporate Services
Term: Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

We are seeking a strong, dynamic and talented individual to join our team of professionals in the capacity of Technology Specialist, Quality, who is looking for an opportunity to bring in testing expertise in both manual and automated testing. This individual will work across agile teams to ensure our applications meet functional, performance and coding standards. This role requires the application of industry best practices for application and software quality testing.

What you will be doing:
- Create test documentation, including test plans, test strategies and test summary reports for all size projects
- Facilitate, attend and participate in walkthroughs and reviews
- Provide direction to the Quality Assurance team members ensuring that all projects are delivered meeting established
- Set QA standards
- Provide coaching and mentoring to the team on quality processes and best practices such as risk-based testing, shift left, automation etc. to ensure efficient and effective testing.
- Provide stakeholders with details around the quality of the product or service that is being tested.
- Provide an objective, independent view of the solution to allow the business to appreciate and understand the risks surrounding the implementation of new or modified software.
- Validate and verify that the application/product meets the requirements and takes into consideration the design and development; works as expected; can be implemented with the same characteristics; and satisfies the needs of its stakeholders.
- Help ensure a solid solution is delivered that meets the stakeholders’ needs.
- Review project documentation to understand test requirements and testing objectives
- For large or cross business unit assignments prepare test strategies, test schedule, test plans, test design, test scenarios/cases and traceability matrix
- Lead Test Strategy and Test plan walkthroughs for large or cross business unit assignments
- Identify project risk-based testing approach
- Execute test cases, document results and log defects based on failed test cases
- Re-test defects and update test results accordingly
- Analyze and track all defects through to satisfactory resolution
- Lead and execute testing activities for all size projects and liaise with vendors
- Provide regular testing status updates and reports
- Conduct status reviews with team members and communicate test progress, results, status and risks to Project Manager and Project Stakeholders
- Monitor and ensure project and support teams adhere to quality standards and processes throughout the Project Life Cycle
- Strong understanding of the overall system development methodology, supporting systems, architecture, procedures and functions
- Proficient in most of the following:
- Web and client/server architectures
- Database design
- Test Automation tools (TestComplete,Postman)
- Performance test tools
- MS Office Tools including Microsoft Access
- SQL, Web development technologies
- AODA
- Work experience in an Agile environment
- Strong understanding and/or exposure to CI/DevOps (GIT, DevOps)
- Effectively utilize multi-media technology for engaging virtual teams
- Proficient in creating, executing and debugging automated test scripts and testing utilities for Windows, Web & Mobile platforms
- Develop and maintain automation frameworks
- Support and maintain software test tools
- Analyze application and projects to identify test automation opportunities and complete proof of concepts and/or feasibility studies
- Support of Performance Testing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to create and maintain strong working relationships
What you will bring:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in insurance or financial services industry
- QA Certification in CSTE (Certified Software Test Engineer) or CSQA (Certified Software Quality Analyst) or ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualification Board)
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of system development life cycle
- Experience with Agile methodology
- Time Management
