The Opportunity
The NGTL Operations team at TC Energy is committed to meeting the needs of our growing business. To help us continue providing exceptional support, we're looking for a Senior Operations Technologist to join us at one of our many listed maintenance offices in Alberta and BC. This position supports safe, reliable, and efficient operations by providing advanced technical and operational process expertise, supporting planning for complex and high‑risk work, and developing technician capability across Canada Gas Operations.
What You'll Do
- Support Control of Work and upcoming TC Energy Operations Management Systems (TOMS) initiatives
- Coach technicians in area/pipe outage leadership, preventative and corrective maintenance bundling, and competency development
- Serve as SME for region‑specific technologies and provide design review support
- Support the development of scopes and outage execution documentation for high‑risk or complex pipe/area outages
- Supports Operations Technicians on major or complex projects
- Support high‑risk work readiness and SIMOPS coordination
- Lead annual PSSR planning and mentor PSSR leads
- Facilitate MOC initiation and identify required entries
- Evaluate technicians performing high‑risk tasks
- Support sustainment of operational programs and work instructions
Minimum Qualifications
- Post-Secondary education in a relevant field of study
- This posting is open to multiple different trade disciplines (Electrician, Instrumentation & Controls,, Mechanic / Millwright, Corrosion Prevention, Pipe, etc.)
- 15 years of relevant work experience; an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
- Extensive operational and technical experience within pipeline or industrial operations
- Advanced competency in risk management, process safety, and operational processes
- Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills
- Ability to lead complex outage planning and technical troubleshooting
- Experience supporting multi‑disciplinary engineering and field operations teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal qualifications such as a Red Seal Electrician, Instrumentation & Controls, Mechanic, or Millwright. Strong preference given to those with multiple designations.
- Knowledge and familiarity with TC Energy's business vision, strategies, practices, processes and systems
- Extensive experience preferably in a energy infrastructure, linear infrastructure, or aerospace technician role
This position requires candidates to:
- Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
- This will involve some overnight stays away from home base
Additional Information
Field Time Expectation: 20–40%
This position is eligible for our domestic relocation program
