About the role:

Nanometrics Seismic Monitoring Services (SMS) business unit has an opening for a highly motivated and experienced Network Operations Analyst to manage 24/7 Day to Day Deployment, Break/Fix, and operational tuning of applications deployed, leveraging the Platform features and AWS infrastructure. The candidate will be required to gain an in-depth understanding of Nanometrics service product lines and the associated technology footprint, working collaboratively across business functions in order to effectively focus internal resources and achieve the desired outcomes for all stakeholders.

A day in the life:

Availability Management:

  • Understand the suite and interoperation of SMS applications to ensure seamless availability and 24/7 responsiveness to any issues which may arise
  • Detect, help diagnose, and resolve outages related to both cloud and on-prem application installations
  • Respond to alerts and triage tickets, escalating major incidents to senior members
  • Manage Station outages and recovery and ensure all data feeds into applications are stable

Request management:

  • Manage the inbound queue of requests regarding modifications to customer configurations and service deployment

Monitoring:

  • Leverage tools to track network and service health (e.g. Nagios, Grafana, Argo)
  • Perform routine maintenance, report generation, and system reviews to ensure application configurations align to specifications
  • Upgrade application and supporting software deployments as required

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science or technical operations
  • 5+ years experience in technology operations roles, such as service management, technical architecture, network / systems operations
  • Cloud computing certifications are an asset

Skills:

  • AWS Core Services Expertise: Proficiency with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda, CloudFront, and more
  • Networking and Security: Experience with AWS networking and security practices
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Expertise with AWS CloudWatch
  • Programming and Scripting: Experience with Python, for building platform tools
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Understanding of Kubernetes (K8s), Docker, and tools such as Helm for managing microservices and distributed systems
