The Department of Biology invites applications for a Sessional Lecturer to teach the following courses during the following session(s):

2026-2027 Regular Session Course Number, Section, and Name: BIOL 90.3 (01) Introduction to Biology Term and Course Dates: Term One (September to December) CRN: 86943 Delivery Mode: This course will be offered as a Lecture Course Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday’s - 9:00am to 11:20am Expected Enrollment Limit: 30 Location: Saskatoon Qualifications: Minimum of a Master’s degree in Biology or a related subject and experience in teaching at the post-secondary level. A Ph.D. and experience teaching in several sub-disciplines of Biology would be considered an asset. This course section is part of the Indigenous Student Achievement Pathways (ISAP) which bundles advisory, co-curricular and curricular programming to support the retention and success of First Nations, Inuit and Metis students in the College of Arts & Science. The additional qualifications required for this ISAP section include the following: Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous community priorities and perspectives, and attention to socio-economic, inter-generational, and educational barriers that unequally affect Indigenous post-secondary cohorts in Saskatchewan Familiarity with Indigenous perspectives and research methodologies as they connect to relevant academic disciplines, and to the development of skills for student success in those disciplines Experience teaching mature student cohorts and students with nonstandard K-12 preparation in relevant academic disciplines Experience teaching using methods that promote collaborative and peer-to-peer learning in small course cohorts Demonstrated intercultural competence and commitment to pedagogic praxis (reflection & reflexive adaptation of teaching)

Term and Course Dates: Term One (September to December) CRN: 86944 Delivery Mode: This course will be offered as an evening Lecture Course Schedule: Evening – Thursday 5:30pm to 8:20pm Expected Enrollment Limit: 150 Location: Saskatoon Qualifications: Minimum of a Master’s degree in Biology or a related subject and experience in cell biology, genetics, molecular and evolutionary processes. Ph.D. and teaching experience would be considered an asset.

Course Number, Section, and Name: BIOL 323.3 (01) Plant Systematics

Term and Course Dates: Term One (September to December) CRN: 81866 Delivery Mode: This course will be offered as a Lecture Course Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:30am to 10:20am Expected Enrollment Limit: 21 Location: Saskatoon Qualifications: Minimum of a Master’s degree in Biology, or a closely related discipline, and research or teaching experience in plant diversity, systematics, identification, and evolution. A Ph.D. and teaching experience is preferred.

Course Number, Section, and Name: ½ of BIOL 455.3 (01) Mannal Diversity & Evolution Term and Course Dates: Term One (September to December) CRN: 81862 Delivery Mode: This course will be offered as a Lecture; 0.5 FTE Course Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10:30am to 11:20am Expected Enrollment Limit: 48 Location: Saskatoon Qualifications: - Minimum of a Master’s degree in Biology or a related subject and experience in mammalian ecology, diversity, and evolution. Ph.D. and teaching experience preferred.

Course Number, Section, and Name: ½ of BIOL 224.3 (02) Animal Body Systems

Term and Course Dates: Term Two (January to April) CRN: 22868 Delivery Mode: This course will be offered as a Lecture: 0.5 FTE Course Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:30am to 9:20am Expected Enrollment Limit: 338 Location: Saskatoon Qualifications: Minimum of a Master’s degree in Biology with experience in animal physiology or a related subject. A Ph.D. in Biology or a related subject and/or teaching experience in animal physiology would be considered an asset.

Course Number, Section, and Name: ½ of BIOL 226.3 (02) Genes to Genomics

Term and Course Dates: Term Two (January to April) CRN: 22176 Delivery Mode: This course will be offered as a Lecture: 0.5 FTE Course Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10:30am to 11:20am Expected Enrollment Limit: 274 Location: Saskatoon Qualifications: Minimum of a Master’s degree in Biology or a related subject and experience with Mendelian and molecular genetics. Ph.D. and teaching experience preferred.

Course Number, Section, and Name: BIOL 472.3 (02) Animal Behaviour

Term and Course Dates: Term Two (January to April) CRN: 20020 Delivery Mode: This course will be offered as a Lecture Course Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:30am to 10:20am Expected Enrollment Limit: 21 Location: Saskatoon Qualifications: Minimum of a Master’s degree in Biology or a related subject and experience in animal ecology, behavior, and the underlying mechanisms. Ph.D. and teaching experience preferred. A valid driver’s license is required for any off-campus courses. Appointment periods include additional days in recognition of preparation and marking time required. Courses may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
