Position Overview:
Reporting to the AVP, Business Analytics, the Director, Business Analytics is responsible for enhancing and showcasing data to facilitate advanced analytics, ultimately providing actionable insights that improve both client and product profitability. This role focuses on translating data into useful information and insightful narratives to drive suitable business decisions and optimize performance. The role also plays a critical part in driving automation, including effective data management strategies to enhance financial dashboards that clearly represent financial performance indicators and trending patterns, enabling the business to monitor, analyze and positively influence financial health. The incumbent will regularly collaborate with key stakeholders including Relationship Management, Client Service Delivery, Information Technology and Senior Leadership, in addition to regularly consulting with internal/external vendors and parent organizations (BNY and CIBC).
Responsibilities:
- Provide timely analysis on client and company health to key stakeholders with actionable insights through both numbers and key narratives intended to inform profitable pricing decisions and drive lower cost. Knowledge-sharing an ongoing theme.
- Deliver informative business commentary pertaining to client and product profitability (CPP) to senior leadership and other key stakeholders, highlighting opportunities for growth and improvement, key impact analysis while flagging potential risks with supporting sensitivity analysis for additional perspective where appropriate.
- Spearhead the organization and dissemination of financials pertaining to client-specific dashboards and strategic relationship account planning including trend and scenario analysis.
- Advance unit costing framework across the respective product/service offerings to enable the organization to ensure accurate “standard” pricing and “right” pricing that confidently protects business profitability.
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance finance processes through technology-driven solutions, advocating for automation, innovation, and industry-leading practices to improve efficiency and data reliability.
- Lead and partner with senior leaders in Finance, Operations, Technology, Legal and other business units to work cross-functionally and use data insights to present strategic recommendations to drive better decision-making across the organization.
- Drive forward recommended solutions to production to enable more frequent and more timely results following period-end as relates to ongoing Client and Product Profitability and Client and Organization’s financial health.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess financial performance and identify potential opportunities.
- Develop and deliver data insights and performance metrics through advanced data visualization and reporting tools. Utilize statistical and analytical tools to identify patterns and trends in complex data sets, supporting data-driven decision-making.
- Generate ad hoc reports and strategic insights for senior leadership and the Board to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Engage in ongoing dialogue with businesses across the organization to understand evolving operational models and changing key cost driver data to better position organization to monitor and track efficiency where outlined. Translate business requirements into actionable plans in alignment with the organization's long-term goals.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years experience in a corporate finance in a large financial services organization with relevant experience.
- University degree in Finance or Accounting with a professional accounting designation and/or MBA.
- Advanced proficiency in data analytics tools such as Python and Power BI. Experience with SAS CPM/Viya/VA is an asset.
- Extensive experience in automation and process optimization using Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate), Power Query, and Alteryx.
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices for data management.
- Strong prioritization, analytical, presentation, project management and planning skills.
- Refined communication skills essential with peers, internal partners and management.
- Ability to effectively synthesize large amounts of ambiguous/un-structured data to provide value add analysis, reporting and support strategy development, monitoring and refinements.
- Skilled in creating insightful management reports and presentations for senior executives and board of directors.
