Job Description Process Engineer - Engine Assembly

Responsibilities The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to

  • Support Manufacturing Process Engineering activity for Machining departments.
  • Perform tooling trials and capability studies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.
  • Develop action plans as required to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actions on internal processes and supplier processes.
  • Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with Operations guidelines.
  • Create process and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processes.
  • Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance to Plant, Corporate, Governmental, and Environmental standards.
  • Support ISO 14001 compliance and internal ISO auditing and compliance as required.
  • Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements :

Education : High School Diploma Or GED.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing solutions that drive measurable improvements in production.

Preferred Requirements :

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred. (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)

Experience:

  • Proficient in customer orientation with a commitment to upholding plant processes through strict adherence to the Quality Operating System (QOS).
  • Demonstrated ability to execute tasks to achieve results while effectively organizing and managing multiple priorities.
  • Proven willingness to take a participatory approach to union relations, function as a collaborative team player, and serve as a strong and confident technical mentor to the entire production organization (both hourly and salaried personnel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently assign work to trades and technicians as required.
  • Extensive experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, including practical application of Lean tools such as 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), Kanban, Poka-yoke (mistake-proofing), and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Proficient in the use of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Experience with Visual Factory Management.
  • Knowledge and experience in ergonomic analysis.
