Rainy River Mine Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About The Role
**Position:**Mill Operations Control Room Supervisor
**Schedule:**14/14 - 12 hour days
**Position Reports To:**Mill Superintendent
Position Overview
The Mill Operations Control Room Supervisor is responsible for leading and standardizing operations in the mill control room. This role focuses on training, mentoring, and supervising Control Room Operators to ensure consistent operating practices, stable process control, and achievement of production and recovery targets.
The position acts as the technical authority for control room operations with a strong focus on SAG and Ball mill grinding circuits, and gold processing. The Supervisor works closely with Operations, Metallurgy, Maintenance, and Process Control to improve operating strategies, troubleshoot process issues, and ensure mill performance meets established KPIs.
This role plays a critical part in developing operator capability, maintaining operational discipline, and ensuring all control room operators follow consistent standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Control Room Leadership and Standards:

Provide technical leadership to all Control Room Operators and ensure consistent operating practices across all shifts.
-
Develop and maintain standard operating philosophies for crushing, grinding, classification, leaching, CIL and cyanide detoxification circuits.
-
Ensure control room operators operate the plant within defined operating parameters, safety standards, and production targets.
-
Monitor plant KPIs including throughput, recovery, grinding performance, reagent consumption, and plant stability.

Identify gaps in operating performance and implement corrective actions through training and operational improvements.
Training and Operator Development:
-
Lead the training and development of Control Room Operators, including onboarding and certification of new operators.
-
Develop structured training programs focused on SAG mill, Ball mill, grinding circuit optimization, and leach and cyanide detoxification control strategies.
-
Mentor operators in troubleshooting process upsets and maintaining stable plant operations.
-
Ensure all CROs follow consistent alarm response protocols and operating procedures.
-
Conduct regular competency assessments to ensure operators maintain required skill levels.
Operational Optimization:
-
Work closely with Metallurgy and Process Control to optimize grinding and leach circuit performance.
-
Support development of process control strategies including alarms, trends, and automated control loops.
-
Assist in developing process troubleshooting guides and operating response matrices.
-
Identify opportunities to improve plant stability, throughput, and recovery.
Process Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
-
Analyze operational data and process trends to identify performance issues.
-
Provide guidance during abnormal operating conditions and major process upsets.
-
Coordinate with Maintenance and Operations to resolve equipment or process issues impacting mill performance.
-
Participate in root cause investigations related to production losses or process disruptions.
Safety and Compliance:
-
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture within the control room and across mill operations.
-
Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to site procedures and entered into INX.
-
Maintain compliance with all corporate, regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
-
Grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent
-
Valid Canadian G or equivalent Driver’s License
-
Minimum 7 years of milling experience, including extensive Control Room operations experience
-
Strong experience with SAG and Ball mill grinding circuits
-
Solid understanding of gold processing and CIL operations
-
Proven ability to troubleshoot grinding, classification, and leach circuit issues
-
Experience with DeltaV or similar Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Ability to mentor, train, and coach operators
-
Strong communication and leadership skills
The anticipated salary for this position will be between $115,000 to 140,000.
