Accelerator Physics Lead

Basilisk Industries is building a high-power electron beam system for industrial rock cutting. We aim to transform the mining and drilling industries, driving down the cost of geothermal power and the critical minerals that the energy transition needs. We're looking for a talented accelerator physicist to join our small technical team.

What You’ll Do

You'll work across beam physics, cathode engineering, and pulsed power, from simulation and design through to assembly and testing of the hardware. The role is roughly equal parts theory/simulation and experiment, with significant hands-on lab work. Our goal is to have a working high-energy beam for lab experiments in short order, with field-capable hardware to follow.

We're Looking For

Graduate-level degree or equivalent in accelerator or beam physics; experience with space-charge-dominated beams is an asset Hands-on experience with electron guns, pulsed power systems, and/or beam transport Comfort working across theory and experiment; we're a small team and generalists thrive here Familiarity with electron gun codes (OmniTrak, GPT, CST, or similar), and/or PIC codes such as WarpX or Vsim is a plus This is an early-stage role with real ownership. If you want your physics to matter for the energy transition rather than sit in a paper, we'd like to talk.

Compensation: CAD $100,000 - $150,000 depending on qualifications; comprehensive benefits; and equity in a company with significant upside.

Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. World class mountain and ocean at your doorstep.

This is an on-site position. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Basilisk Industries is willing to support visa sponsorship or process a Labour Market Impact Assessment for this position.
