Job Overview:
Reporting to the Banquet Operations Manager, Banquet Manager, and Assistant Managers, the Banquet Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the effective and consistent delivery of banquet and catered events at Heritage Park. This role supports the planning and execution of events to ensure a high standard of service, operational efficiency, and an exceptional guest experience.
The position provides hands-on leadership to banquet and kitchen teams throughout all stages of event execution. In the absence of senior leadership, the Banquet Operations Supervisor assumes Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities, providing on-site oversight, supervising staff, supporting guest satisfaction, and addressing operational issues to ensure successful event delivery.
Responsibilities:
Event Operations & Logistics
Ensure all banquet supplies (linens, dishes, cutlery, glassware, and paper products) are delivered and set at the correct location for each function. Assist in transferring products and supplies between venues as required. Oversee and assist with event setup, organization, and breakdown. Ensure dirty linen is returned to Gasoline Alley as appropriate. Support product ordering and assist with staff and volunteer scheduling as assigned. Monitor event execution to ensure adherence to event orders, timelines, and service standards.
Leadership & Supervision
Provide leadership, direction, and support to Banquet and Kitchen staff before, during, and after events. Supervise Banquet Captains, Servers, and Bartenders to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and service standards. Step into operational roles such as Banquet Captain or Bartender when required. Address service challenges promptly and professionally to ensure a seamless guest experience.
Manager on Duty Responsibilities
When senior management is not on-site, the Banquet Operations Supervisor: Acts as the primary on-site leader with full operational authority. Makes timely decisions regarding guest concerns, staffing matters, and operational challenges. Handles and resolves escalated guest complaints. Ensures compliance with health & safety, AGLC Compliance, and organizational policies. Responds appropriately to emergencies or incidents in accordance with Heritage Park procedures. Maintains overall service standards and operational excellence across venues.
Guest Experience
Deliver an exceptional visitor experience through friendly, courteous, and professional interactions. Create a welcoming, customer-focused atmosphere by actively acknowledging and engaging guests. Handle concerns positively and provide helpful information to enhance the visitor experience.

Contribute to inspiring and immersive experiences at the Park by engaging in Heritage Park initiatives that align with our mission and vision, ensuring authenticity in our historical setting and stories. Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary training in the hospitality area would be an asset Minimum of one year of previous experience in banquet operations or related hospitality roles. Knowledge of banquet supplies, set-up procedures, and organizational skills. Possessing a valid Class 5 driver's and ProServe license is required. Ability to assist with product ordering and staff/volunteer scheduling. Leadership and supervisory skills to provide support to Banquet and Kitchen staff. Flexibility to accept shifts as a Banquet Captain or Bartender when required. Strong customer service skills with a friendly and courteous demeanour. Effective communication skills for interactions with guests, staff, and volunteers. Ability to handle situations positively and provide valuable information. Willingness to perform various duties as required by the Banquet Manager and Assistant Managers. All successful candidates (over the age of 18) will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. A criminal record will not automatically disqualify an applicant; any information disclosed will be assessed confidentially on a case-by-case basis in accordance with Alberta human rights legislation, considering relevance to the role and our commitment to equitable and inclusive hiring practices
Special Clothing and Equipment:
Appropriate costuming and safety equipment will be provided by Heritage Park if applicable; and Footwear, as designated by the Heritage Park Costume Department, will be provided by the employee.
Special Working Conditions:
The position will be exposed to weather extremes and will work both indoors and outdoors; and This position is physically demanding, and the incumbent must have the ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods of time and walk throughout the Park for extended periods

The standard hours for this role vary based on operational needs A minimum availability of two shifts per week is required (weekdays and weekends) Holiday, evening, and weekend availability is required
