Scope

This is a senior technical and administrative position within the Land Development Division of the Engineering Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating the civil engineering off-site servicing design process and related administration work for commercial, mixed-use, industrial, institutional, and residential developments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of large projects, in collaboration with both internal staff and external organizations.

Responsibilities

Performing administrative and supervisory duties in project management, planning, coordinating, reporting, monitoring, policy interpretation, cost control, and ongoing supervision of personnel. Assisting senior staff with the preparation, development, review and implementation of departmental policies, practices and procedures, capital work and maintenance programs. Generating solutions based on good engineering practice, which may be beyond current practices and procedures. Reviewing designs, and contracts prepared by consultants. Processing engineering applications. Performing field inspections Assisting at public meetings, liaises with outside agencies, and prepares major reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: You are a self-starter who can make sound decisions as you handle multiple projects with ambitious timelines. Your excellent communication and public relations skills will be critical as you engage with many stakeholders, including developer, consultants, internal staff, external organizations and agencies and the public Your exceptional organizational skills will aid you in handling multiple projects with ambitious timelines. You will feel comfortable wearing multiple hats and switching gears to constantly changing priorities and thrive working within a multidisciplinary team environment. You have comprehensive knowledge of the City’s engineering specifications as well as good engineering practices and theory of civil engineering

Qualifications

Completed of a two-year diploma in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution. Eight (8) years engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability and supervisory experience in the relevant areas of engineering and/or equivalent combination of training and experience and must have technical expertise applicable to the specific role. A valid BC Driver’s License.
