About the role

Innovation Norway is a Government Agency and Norway’s Official Trade and Investment Promotion Organization. We have customer-oriented teams in all regions of Norway and in more than 20 different countries that share the same mandate: to give local ideas global opportunities.

Canada and Norway share many similarities in terms of business, culture, environment, and nature. We see that what works in Norway most often also works in Canada. Both Canada and Norway have strong similarities and a long history of cooperation within business and industry. Both nations are built on natural resources.

We hold a strong position within the energy industry, as well as the maritime and marine industries, and in minerals and technology development. All industries are increasingly impacted by disruptive technologies, decarbonization, digital innovations, and autonomy/AI as key drivers.

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Prospecting and proposal development on tailored assignments.
  • Initiating and managing recruitment campaigns for incoming trade delegations.
  • Strategic advisory and business development services to Norwegian companies, supporting development and implementation of their export and growth priorities.
  • Proactive engagement to identify and promote export opportunities and effectively build strong relationships with key partners in the region and in Norway.
  • Organize targeted programs and market visits for groups of Norwegian companies.
  • Facilitate impactful business conferences, networking events and matchmaking platforms.
  • Provide market updates, collecting and leveraging data.

Desired qualifications:

  • Sales/consulting/business development experience from Canada; similar experience from Norway is considered beneficial.
  • A strong commercial network.
  • Sales/business development experience and network from one or more of our key focus areas: advanced manufacturing, tech development in most sectors (health- cleantech etc), venture capital/Investor environment, energy, ICT/AI, or maritime industry.
  • Project management experience and proficiency to effectively utilize digital project management tools.
  • Experience from early to mid-stage corporate fundraising/finance, M&A processes and similar is considered beneficial.
  • Post-secondary education, technical or commercial, within a relevant field.
  • Minimum five years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience in or with Norwegian industry within the sectors mentioned above is considered beneficial.

Fluency in English is essential. Scandinavian language is an advantage.
