Job Description: About the role: Reporting to the AVP of Dealer Operations, the Director Dealer Operations has two main areas of responsibility; leading the back-office teams who handle administrative tasks and leading the training team who support the knowledge and training needs of Dealer employees as well as our financial advisors and field leaders.

Working with a cohort of 2,000+ Advisors and Field Leaders across Canada, the Director Dealer Operations will build strong relationships with all key players. Informed by good data collection on the day to day errors and friction points of the operation, the Director will build a feedback mechanism allowing to help continuously improve how our employees perform their tasks and how advisors manage their business.

What will you do?

  • Build a team culture and the processes to consistently deliver excellent service for our Clients, Advisors and Field Leaders.
  • Manage the day to day delivery of service through a team of 180 people; 4+ Operations Managers with 2 to 3 Team Leaders who lead groups of 5 to 15 people each with teams of 10-12 case managers. KPIs include turn around time, quality of service and efficiency of expense management metrics.
  • Manage the design and delivery of training to many levels of the organisation. This includes overseeing effective knowledge management for everything related to the Dealer.
  • Build very strong relationships with Advisors and Field Leaders across the country, to both understand opportunities for improvement and to gain the credibility to influence change across the Advisor community.
  • As a part of the SLFISI Leadership Team you will contribute to our overall strategy setting, initiative planning and prioritization work.
  • Use data and analytics to gain insights that will help Advisors run their practices more efficiently.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Proven track record of delivering business results through strong team building, collaborative leadership skills and strategic thinking.
  • Ten or more years of experience in the investment industry in Canada, including experience with financial advisory practices.
  • Expert ability to create and maintain strong working relationships across the organization at all levels
  • Never satisfied with the status quo, you always think there is a better solution
  • Developed ability to think strategically and execute tactically, including using data-driven decision-making and the willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to effectively consult, educate and influence senior level management
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
