About the Position

Reporting to the Learning Experience Design (LXD) Coordinator in the Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Innovation (CTLI), the Media Specialist plays a key role in consulting and creating print and digital assets for CTLI projects and initiatives. As a member of LP Studio, within CTLI, you will collaborate with departments and Centres across Lethbridge Polytechnic and external clients to design and support learning experiences

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop high-quality, EDI, and accessible media for a wide range of devices and platforms.
  • Collaborate with design team members to conceptualize, design, and deliver effective media under tight deadlines.
  • Solve creative problems and apply analytical thinking to produce engaging learning materials tailored to a diverse audience.

Position Details

  • Human-Centered Design: Use a holistic, user-focused design approach to understand learner project goals, emphasizing the user experience, EDI and accessibility.
  • Media Creation: Develop graphic elements, interactive media, animations, videos, and web-based designs tailored to learner needs.
  • Strategic Design Choices: Collaborate with design team members to determine the best visual and interactive elements to achieve desired learning outcomes and communicate effectively.
  • Prototyping and Planning: Prepare prototypes, sketches, layouts, wireframes, and storyboards using traditional tools, multimedia software, and design applications.
  • Original Artwork and Creativity: Create custom artwork and visuals that align with the project team’s vision and enhance engagement for diverse learners.
  • Web and UX/UI Design: Leverage web design, User Experience (UX) design, User Interface (UI) design, and programming skills to create engaging, accessible, and functional designs.
  • Software Expertise: Apply expert knowledge of software and other relevant tools to produce high-quality designs and media (Canva, H5P, AI, Articulate).
  • Consultation and Collaboration: Work closely with design team members to assess needs, brainstorm solutions, and simplify complex concepts for clear communication.
  • Emerging Solutions: Rapidly prototype innovative media solutions, integrating new software and processes to support student learning.
  • Accessibility and Engagement: Design media objects and simulations that are engaging, accessible, and inclusive for all learners.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with design team members to ensure cohesive project goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Integrate cross-application workflows and stay updated on emerging design trends and tools such as AI to enhance learning experiences.

This role combines creativity, technical skill, and collaboration to produce impactful media and web-based solutions that elevate learning experiences.

This is an on-campus position.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in Multimedia or related field and one year of experience; combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Minimum of 6 months prior job experience.

  • Experience working in team-based collaborative environments.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in media related field.

  • Experience in a post-secondary environment.

  • Working knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

  • Animation experience.

  • Familiarity with low-code no-code tools and AI

Salary

AUPE Class Level 9 Step 1 $27.42/hr
