About the role

Position: Technical Architect (Disaster Recovery)
Client: Financial Sector client
Location: Toronto
Duration: 4+ Months with an expected extension of up to one year
Language: English

Background: Our Financial Sector Client requires a technical infrastructure architect with disaster recovery experience in architecture development, implementation, and operations of underlying systems and infrastructure including compute, storage, network, database, middleware, virtualization etc. in a multi-datacentre topology.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in Disaster Recovery projects

  • Ability to work on-site in Toronto

  • Ability to identify critical systems and data, assess technology risks, and create strategies for backup, recovery, and failover.

  • In-depth knowledge high availability systems and techniques to minimize downtime. This includes configuring systems for redundancy, implementing load balancing, and ensuring that critical systems can fail over to backup systems in case of an outage.

  • Ability to utilize cloud computing and virtualization technologies to enhance infrastructure flexibility, scalability, and recoverability. This includes migrating systems to cloud platforms, implementing virtualization technologies, and configuring cloud-based backup and disaster recovery services.

Expected Tasks:

  • Infrastructure Architecture development: Development of infrastructure architecture, including servers, storage, networks, and databases, to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.

  • Disaster Recovery Planning: Ability to identify critical systems and data, assess technology risks, and create strategies for backup, recovery, and failover.

  • Backup and Recovery Systems: Experience with backup and recovery systems to ensure that data can be restored in case of loss or corruption. This includes selecting appropriate backup technologies, configuring backup schedules, and testing recovery processes.

  • High Availability Systems: In-depth knowledge high availability systems and techniques to minimize downtime. This includes configuring systems for redundancy, implementing load balancing, and ensuring that critical systems can fail over to backup systems in case of an outage.

  • Cloud and Virtualization: Utilizing cloud computing and virtualization technologies to enhance infrastructure flexibility, scalability, and recoverability. This includes migrating systems to cloud platforms, implementing virtualization technologies, and configuring cloud-based backup and disaster recovery services.

  • 6DR and BCM: Experience with simulating disaster scenarios, testing backup and recovery processes, and evaluating the organization's ability to recover from a disaster.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with other IT teams, management, and stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure and disaster recovery plans align with business objectives and requirements. This includes providing training, documentation, and support to ensure that all stakeholders understand their roles in disaster recovery.
