Position Description Phase 1: M&A Execution (Months 1–3) Objective: Build deal-sourcing and transaction execution skills.
Key Activities
- Source companies in targeted vertical markets, build detail screening models.
- Perform industry analysis, evaluate competitive dynamics, and review financial statements.
- Shadow investment team members during management meetings, investment committee reviews, and valuation discussions.
- Support negotiations, contribute to offer structuring, and take ownership of early-stage deal execution deliverables.
Phase 2: Due Diligence & Integration (Months 4–6) Objective: Gain hands-on experience in deal diligence and pre/post-close integration.
Key Activities
- Support commercial, financial, legal, and technical due diligence reviews.
- Build models to stress-test forecasts and identify risks.
- Collaborate with legal and investment teams on transaction structuring.
- Develop first-100-day integration roadmaps with functional leaders (Finance, HR, Sales, IT).
- Engage directly with sellers, advisors, and stakeholders to strengthen negotiation and relationship skills.
Phase 3: Post-Acquisition Operations (Months 7–9) Objective: Understand the Valsoft Business System (VBS) and operational value creation.
Key Activities
- Spend time within an operating company, shadowing senior leadership.
- Lead high-impact projects tied to growth (pricing optimization, upselling strategy, customer success, or product roadmap evaluation).
- Learn how to track KPIs (ARR, churn, NRR, margins) and identify levers to improve performance.
- Document best practices for scaling acquired businesses.
Program Features
- Mentorship: Pairing with a senior partner and an operating company CEO.
- Training Modules: Workshops on valuation, negotiation, integration, and operational excellence.
- Rotational Reviews: End-of-phase evaluations with senior leadership to track readiness for portfolio ownership.
- Career Path: Successful graduates immediately transition into full-time Portfolio Manager roles, responsible for managing one or more Valsoft companies.
Requirements
- MBA graduates (0–3 years post-MBA experience)
- Background in investment banking, private equity, consulting, or operating roles
- Demonstrated interest in M&A, entrepreneurship, and operational value creation
