What you'll do:
The Decision Support team plays a pivotal role in partnering with the business to provide data-driven insights that influence performance. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data & Business Insights Analyst to join our team, providing dedicated support to the Western Canadian Tire banners, including Sport Chek and Mark's.
Reporting to the Manager, Western Banner Decision Support, you will be operating within the data analytics space, leveraging relevant quantitative and qualitative data to deliver actionable insights that drive business objectives. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can lead analytics projects independently and serve as a trusted partner to the business.
- Lead analytics projects from ideation to completion, translating complex business questions into a clear analytical approach and delivering data-backed insights to inform decisions on merchandising, pricing, and promotions.
- Serve as the primary analytics partner for business clients, building and maintaining strong relationships and acting as a subject matter expert for the Sport Chek and Mark's banners.
- Conduct and present monthly performance reviews to retail banner leaders, outlining key wins and opportunities that inform strategic planning and support external reporting.
- Develop compelling presentations and data visualizations to communicate complex findings and influence narratives.
- Proactively identify opportunities for analysis and drive thought leadership within the business, delivering insights that influence strategy and performance.
- Take ownership of performance monitoring, including the development of key metrics and conducting post-implementation reviews to evaluate project success.
What you bring:
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or similar quantitative role. Alternatively, a degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Computer Science with demonstrated practical application of data analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Power BI.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based data solutions such as Azure Synapse, Databricks is a significant asset.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into clear, concise, and influential business recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of autonomy.
