Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Advisor to support and enhance its provincial safety program. This position is based in the Edmonton Zone and provides direct safety support to APL facilities in Alberta’s North Sector. As a key member of the APL Safety Department, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and accreditation standards across laboratory sites. Your efforts will help foster a proactive, resilient, and safety-conscious culture. You bring: Strong problem-solving and investigation skills. Description:
Reporting to the APL Safety Lead, the Health & Safety Advisor supports the planning and implementation of occupational safety programs across APL. This position is responsible for developing safety initiatives, providing cross-departmental and multi-site client support, and leading educational efforts and project delivery to promote worker health, safety, and wellness. Key responsibilities include: Identifying workplace hazards and effectively communicating associated risks. Conducting occupational hygiene and ergonomic assessments. Designing, delivering, and overseeing safety training programs. Supporting incident response, investigation, and regulatory reporting. Assisting operational leaders with urgent safety concerns and risk mitigation. Collaborating with stakeholders to enhance the Health and Safety Management System (HSMS).

Required Qualifications:
Degree, diploma, or certification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field. CRSP or CRST designation, or eligible to register and complete within 2 years. Three (3) years’ experience in Occupational Health & Safety, ideally in an organization of significant size.
Additional Required Qualifications:
As required.
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year experience in a clinical laboratory or other healthcare related field. Process Improvement Certification. (e.g. Lean Six Sigma). Change Management certification (e.g. ProSCI). Project Management certification.
