Description: Course Code and Title

MGHC02H3 Management Skills Number of Openings: up to 4 Lecture Sections:  LEC01: TH 15:00-17:00;LEC03: WE 15:00-17:00; LEC04: TH 13:00-15:00;LEC05: TU 19:00-21:00; Course Description:  This course will help students develop the critical skills required by today's managers. Topics covered include self-awareness, managing stress and conflict, using power and influence, negotiation, goal setting, and problem-solving. These skills are important for leadership and will enable students to behave more effectively in their working and personal lives. This course includes work-integrated-learning components, and satisfies the WIL requirement of the BBA degree. Course Enrolment (est.): 40 Qualifications: Minimum: A master's degree in industrial relations and human resources or organizational behaviour/industrial-organizational psychology and at least 1 course at the graduate level relevant to leadership OR a master's degree in social/personality psychology with at least 2 courses at the graduate level in organizational psychology and relevant to leadership. A strong academic record along with previous experience teaching this course or a similar course at the undergraduate level OR experience with activities related to teaching this course (e.g., experience being a teaching assistant, teaching some sessions of the course, experience in course development, etc.)  All candidates must have proof of excellent oral and written communications skills. Shortlisted candidates must be prepared to submit course outlines of courses developed/taught/assisted in, and teaching evaluations (if any). Additionally, they may be asked to provide an example of an individually written research paper or provide a lecture during the applicant review process. Preferred qualifications: In addition to the minimum, a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior or Industrial-Organizational Psychology OR a /Social/Personality Psychology with at least 2 courses at the graduate level in leadership or organizational behaviour/organizational psychology. A strong academic record along with previous experience teaching this course or a similar course at the undergraduate level with good teaching evaluations.

Duties

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades, holding regular office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student and administrative contact, supervision of T.A. assigned to course. Additionally, there is an expectation to teach experientially with role plays, games, and simulations, and cases and to conduct debriefing on these role plays by integrating theory and research in the field while doing so. Instructors may also be expected to have a work-integrated learning project as a group or individual project for students (with staff support).

Sessional Lecturer II rate of pay will be $10,699.22.  Sessional Lecturer II-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,953.96. Sessional Lecturer III rate of pay will be $10,953.96.
