The Position
The Opportunity: The Clinical Operations Analytics & Portfolio Optimization Intern plays a pivotal role in supporting clinical trial teams by maximising expertise in data analytics, patient and investigator insights, and business intelligence. The position involves a variety of responsibilities sought at optimizing trial delivery and providing strategic operational insights.
The role involves supporting the optimization of country strategies and forecasting trial timelines across the Roche portfolio, ensuring efficient trial delivery through the development of strategic insights and recommendations. Collaboration with teams is crucial to develop tools and recommendations for reporting strategies, automate data processing, and deliver analyses and business solutions to the clinical operations organization. This includes the integration of in-depth patient insights, such as knowledge of epidemiology, disease progression, patient journeys, existing treatments, and standard care practices.
Additionally, the position requires a detailed understanding of the investigator landscape, including local geographic needs, previous engagements with Roche, adherence to Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), and overall quality and compliance. The role also involves supervising and tracking the competitive landscape, conducting primary research, and assessing risk levels to determine their implications for trial execution. This comprehensive approach ensures that the team can make well-informed decisions and optimize clinical trial outcomes optimally.
- Work within cross-functional teams to develop analytical solutions and gain alignment and engage stakeholders to enable better decision-making and deliver impactful business insights
- Build an understanding of patient, investigator, and site needs, including identifying pain points and exploring opportunities for streamlining investigator and site-level burdens
- Create tools for automating data processing, cleaning, and delivering analyses and provide business solutions to the clinical operations organization through automation
- Compile and analyze relevant information to synthesize key actionable insights; deliver impactful formal and informal presentations to various leadership teams and stakeholders
- Assess competitive clinical trial activities, country/site footprints, and threats, provide situational analysis support for quarterly business reviews and early clinical trial planning and support the identification of appropriate sites and countries for trial placement
Who you are:
- You hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in sciences, healthcare, life sciences and related fields
- You are currently enrolled in a Masters in Biomedical Discovery and Commercialization or Masters in Biotechnology program
- With a strong analytical mentality and problem-solving abilities, you are adept at breaking down sophisticated issues, managing uncertainty, and understanding interdependencies
- You have experience in database querying and data analysis, particularly using SQL, and are proficient with standard analysis, collaboration, and presentation software such as Microsoft Suite and Google Suite, allowing to integrate data from various sources and present findings effectively
- You have excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, paired with a passion for business and scientific intelligence, enabling you to present insights objectively and guide decision-making through compelling storytelling
Preferred:
- You have knowledge in Predictive modeling, simulation, forecasting
- Basic understanding of clinical research and disease mechanisms
- You have experience in Data analysis using R or Python and familiarity with business intelligence tools (Spotfire, Tableau)
Additional information: Duration: 12 months, with an approximate start date in January 2026.
Modality: Full Time (35 hours per week) Hybrid (majority of days on - site is required)
Location: Mississauga Campus, ON.
